The season is on the horizon and the first round of preseason scrimmages start next weekend. There is more talent in Kentucky than I can remember in 8 years of working for Prep Hoops. With the season loading, let's make some predictions on which of the 2030s will have breakout Freshman seasons.

Most Likely to Record a Triple Double - [player_tooltip player_id='2726857' first='Pierre' last='Rondo'], North Oldham - Rondo, like his dad, impacts the game in several ways. He can score, rebound and has the potential to record double figure rebounds whenever he touches the court.

Most Likely to Score 30 Points Multiple Times - [player_tooltip player_id='3424849' first='Ty' last='Simons'], Nicholas County - Simons is part of a Nicholas County team that is going to need to reload after graduating two college players in the spring. While Ty is a natural scoring guard, his team is going to need him to score the ball at a high level in order to compete in the 10th region.

Most Likely to Dunk on Someone - [player_tooltip player_id='2381674' first='Jaylen' last='Gent'], Sayre - Jaylen is a good athlete who is at his best when slashing to the rim. He's going to play a lot of meaningful minutes for the Spartans this season and likely start. When he's in the open court, Jaylen is trying to put someone on a poster.

Best Freshman in NKY - [player_tooltip player_id='3733919' first='Amil' last='Wimzie'], Highlands - Wimzie is a really good guard prospect who already earned his first D1 offer and could quickly find himself in the discussion of top 5-10 players in the region.

Best Freshman in WKY - [player_tooltip player_id='3689999' first='Colt' last='Holsclaw'], Ohio County - The western part of the state hasn't had a ton of names make themselves known yet. Holsclaw is from the Ty Price mold and will likely get a lot of shots for Ohio County this season. Certainly a name to monitor.

Best Freshman in Louisville - [player_tooltip player_id='3250729' first='Mason' last='Calhoun'], Male - Calhoun is in a position to replace Jordan Mitchell and keep the Male Bulldogs near the top of the state rankings. Mason knows how to run and offense but can also score when he needs to. He has a lot of long term potential but is going to be elite this season.

Best Long Term Prospect - [player_tooltip player_id='2829981' first='Prince' last='Thomas IV'], St. Xavier - Thomas checks every box in terms of length, athleticism, etc. He's skilled and plays with a great motor. He may not play a ton of varsity as a freshman but I think Prince has the potential to be an elite recruit and potential pro down the line.
