Recruiting Update: Abdul Mohamed (2019)
The 7th ranked prospect in Washington’s 2019 class is in the midst of an exciting season.
Out of West Seattle High School, the 6’8 forward is lengthy and lethal around the rim. On offense Mohamed goes to work on the post. His set of post-moves and great footwork make him a tough task for defenders. Mohamed also has the ability to knock down shots from 10-15 feet, having nice touch for his size.
“I think my versatility is my strongest part of my game. I’m not a strictly post scorer, I dribble and shoot the ball too.”
And as for influence, Mohamed has watched and learned from one the greatest NBA centers of all time.
“I’ve looked up to Hakeem Olajuwon and watched his footwork for the longest time. I would love to try and get that dream shake down.”
Mohamed’s recruiting has been in full-effect, having interest from many schools such as- Cal Berkley, UW, OSU, Seattle U, Montana, Cal Poly, Santa Clara, Hawaii, Pepperdine, EWU, and Boise State. But, there’s one school in particular he’s shooting for.
“I really want to go to UW and stay home and play for my city.”
Being just a junior, Mohamed’s recruiting door is still wide open.
West Seattle currently sits in the middle of the highly competitive Metro league standings. They have been on the short-end of some heartbreaking losses against the league, and state’s, top teams. But through those losses, the team has grown and become a stronger unit.
“The season is going pretty good, we are starting to play really well with each other. We want to make it back to state with the players we have and prove how good we are.”
As the regular season begins to wind down, the very talented West Seattle team is out to make a statement. It’s not how you start a season, it’s how you finish.
