The 6-foot-4 wing has not only been doing that his entire high school career but really got a chance to showcase himself this spring and summer, not only in camp settings but playing AAU basketball with the [program_tooltip program_id='2248856' first='Players' last='Only'] program.

"I think it went really good, it was a new team for me this summer and I think we played really good in May and July - we had a lot of good tournaments," Rygh said. "I got better in a lot of roles, such as offense - cutting was also like a big part for me because that's one of the things that I like to do the most and gets me the most open. [program_tooltip program_id='2248856' first='Players' last='Only'] really helped me out with that. Also being really more loud, because I was a little bit more on the quiet end. Hopefully I'm more loud my senior season."

Rygh is a remarkable athlete who glides to the basket and finishes above the rim, but can also knock down the three and create off the bounce for himself and others. He described the strengths he brings to the table.

"My strength was my IQ - I know where to put the ball sometimes for my team," Rygh said. "And then also like I think my talking has been really good on defense just saying like, help, I'm right here. Overall, I'm trying to be a leader for my team."

College programs paid close attention to Rygh and he's gotten some solid recruiting attention. He recently picked up his first scholarship offer from OIT and then he's also hearing from schools in the D-II Great Northwest Conference such as Central Washington, Western Oregon, and Western Washington. He's got two official visits coming up to OIT and Central Washington and while his goal is to decide before his senior season starts, he's staying open to hearing more.

"Hopefully D-I's the goal but I'm grateful for anything for sure," Rygh said. "The coaches is like a big thing, if I can build a relationship with them, then I'm gonna feel more comfortable from like where I'm at. And also I think just like where the place is, where I'm comfortable at. If I can actually maybe touch the court my freshman year, or if I can just learn from the players already there. I just wanna see everything I can see in the college experience."

As Rygh sorts out his recruitment, he's clearly looking forward to this upcoming final season of high school basketball with the Bowmen.

"I'm excited," Rygh said. "We lost a lot of seniors, but I think me and Avery (Johnson) are gonna be really good together - we're gonna be the main scorers, the main leaders. We got a lot of kids from JV, a lot of them are my friends, so I think our team chemistry is gonna be really good this year, better than last year. So I think if we can be friends off the court, but we gotta lock in on the court. This team's a lot more focused and we're determined - we want to get to the Chiles Center. That's the main goal for sure, because I've never been, and I really wanna get there."
