About Jimmy

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

Offensively, I look to attack the paint and either get to the rim, pull up for my midrange or kick to an open teammate. I will shoot from 3 off the catch or dribble. Defensively, I play physical, use my length to contest and block shots, and am big on communication. I play the passing lanes and love to turn steals into quick fast break buckets.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I consider myself to be a leader by example through hard work and hustle. I am competitive, confident (but not cocky) and extremely driven. I am respectful, very coachable, and make a point of displaying good sportsmanship.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I am in DECA and had success in those competitions, am always on the Honor Roll, and am a member of the National Honor Society.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

After I made varsity as a freshman and started every game, starting my sophomore year I have developed as the leader of my team. I was officially a captain last year and will be my senior year. I take my role as team leader seriously and want to help set the highest standard and culture for our program. I have volunteered in my community including helping with youth basketball camps and clinics.

What type of college are you looking for?

I am seeking a high-academic institution, preferably in the Northeast, that offers a strong business or finance program and a competitive basketball culture.

Farrell was a steadying force all year for Masco, and he played his best basketball towards the end of the season, so he deserves a spot on the first team. The 6-foot-2 scoring guard is unbelievable in the mid-range and consistently gets to his spots at the elbow via a quick first step, but he can also finish at the rim more effectively than many guards in the MIAA. When multiple defenders converge on him, he’s shown that he can make smart kick out passes to teammates, and I also think he’s an underrated defender and athlete. Farrell should get looks at the high D3 level—his game will translate wonderfully there.
