ANAHEIM — We closed out our spring club basketball coverage with a stop at the annual Compton Magic Memorial Day tournament hosted at Open Gym Premier in Anaheim. There was a large contingent of Southern California programs in attendance in addition to teams from Arizona, Northern California and other west coast states. Below we take a look at the 17u wings, forwards and centers who stood out Friday night.

[player_tooltip player_id='2435359' first='Jeremiah' last='Profit'] | 2027 | Gamepoint

Profit is one of Southern California's best perimeter scoring threats on the wing. The 6-foot-5 sophomore is best in spot up or pull up situations where he can elevate into a catch-and-shoot or off-dribble jumper from three-point and mid-range levels of the floor. Profit is also effective in transition as a lane filler and finisher and can attack closeouts and score in straight-line drive situations.

Julian LeBel | 2026 | Gamepoint

LeBel is an important piece for Gamepoint's 17u team because of his willingness to do the dirty work. The 6-foot-4 forward is all over the offensive boards and generates countless second-chance opportunities for his team. The San Diego-based junior is a smart and timely cutter and uses his strength and physicality to initiate, absorb and finish through contact around the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id='1741167' first='Kade' last='Snyder'] | 2026 | Compton Magic

Snyder got some more court time and extra touches with teammate [player_tooltip player_id='1612468' first='Cameron' last='Williams'] overseas on the adidas Eurocamp trip and he excelled in the bigger role. The 6-foot-8 forward has impressive touch on his three-point shot and is a legitimate floor-stretching four-man who is consistent from both corners and from the top of the key. Snyder is a versatile offensive player who thrives in pick-and-roll and pick-and-pop situations.

[player_tooltip player_id='2425654' first='Max' last='Ellis'] | 2026 | Open Gym Premier

Ellis has been an elite role player during his high school career at St. John Bosco but it has been good to see him grow into a more prominent role this spring. Ellis is a consistent catch-and-shoot threat from three-point range but has improved his ball skills to the point where he can shot fake a defender out of position and attack the basket and score at the rim through contact.

Rayane Solhi | 2026 | Velocity

Solhi is a skilled and high motor wing whose wiry 6-foot-6 frame and quickness and shiftiness off the bounce make him a prospect who is tough to keep out of the lane. The junior, who played U18 ball with the Moroccan national team, has a polished finishing package around the basket but can also score the old-fashioned way with a strong take into the chest of defenders and finish at the rim.

[player_tooltip player_id='1482165' first='Rider' last='Portela'] | 2026 | Compton Magic

It's always refreshing watching Portela play because he's just a smart and solid player on both ends of the floor. The 6-foot-5 swingman out of Arizona has dribble, pass and shoot potential that, at the next level, will be an important skill-set for him to sharpen in order to achieve the point-forward ceiling that he has. Portela is a multi-positional defender who uses natural instincts and length to contain and disrupt passing lanes.
