SW Metro Boys Athlete of the Week: John Henry
Eden Prairie is having a fantastic start to their season. The Eagles were expected to be top 10-worthy, but going game by game through their schedule so far, their record could have been 7-4. They’re 10-1.
Seems like the past few weeks have been a revolving door of EP youngsters standing out in their own ways, leading to big wins and great fan support in the polls for SW Metro Boys Athlete of the Week. Add 2020 wing John Henry to the list, winning this week by a very narrow margin.
Henry averages 13.1 points per game, one of four Eagle sophomores to score double figures on a nightly basis. Eden Prairie boasts marquee victories over Minnehaha Academy, North St. Paul, Chaska, Edina and Minneapolis North, with their only loss at the hands of Lakeville North in overtime. Henry produced at a consistent level in each of those games, plus his season-high of 24 points in a drubbing of Shakopee last week.
Three of the four SW Metro Boys Athlete of the Week awards have gone to Eden Prairie sophomores. That’s a testament to their development and talent; no doubt they’re in position for great success down the road.
