Expert Analysis
Mark Miller | Prep Hoops Scout
Another talented player on the ABC Young Lions 16U title team, Nelson’s effort was impressive in the 43-39 semifinal win over River City. He hit the offensive glass hard and came up with two huge putbacks while also scoring two additional baskets in the half court on quick drives to the basket. Nelson also played with urgency and toughness on defense, diving for loose balls and trapping opponents with a purpose. Nelson averaged 5.3 points per game as a sophomore for a Shorewood squad that won 12 games. He figures to be a key player for the Greyhounds the next two seasons, thanks in large part to how hard to plays.

Nelson displayed a poised and cerebral approach while orchestrating the offense for ABC Lions. A quiet leader on the floor, Nelson set the tone with his pass-first mentality and strong decision-making. He routinely created open looks for teammates late in games and maintained control with excellent tempo. His use of floaters in traffic was a highlight, showing advanced touch and timing around interior defenders.
