About Johan

How would you briefly describe your gameplay style?

I can pass and handle the ball well. I like to attack the basket but I can also shoot. I also play on-ball and off-ball defense.

Can you provide a brief description of your mentality or personality?

I believe in working hard whether at practice at games, or at school. I’m supportive of my loved ones and my team and turn to them for guidance and advice.

Are you involved in any clubs, organizations, or have you received any non-sport awards?

I’m a member of the Service Club which aims to assist the community, shelters, and food packing distributers like Feed my Starving Children.

What skills or qualities have you developed, such as leadership, teamwork, or community service?

I’ve grown to not be afraid to tell my teammates what they can work on or how they can improve without disrespecting them. I’ve learned that a leader goes to where he is needed. Whether it’s helping others learn plays, helping clean up the gym after a practice or helping hype up your team, a leader knows how to do it all.

Have you faced any significant challenges? If so, please describe.

I was cut from my freshman High School team tryouts after having played on my middle school team. I then looked for a team that could help better my skills and played for Spartan Sports for 3 seasons. The Spartan team helped my confidence and strengthened me as a player and I was then able to make my high school team.

What type of college are you looking for?

I’m looking for a school who will improve my on court abilities, but also a school that will help me mature as a man and prepare me for life after college.
