Recruiting Report: Jack Ammerman (2018)
There are some high school basketball players that you almost have to see to believe. You can hear or read about their game and you can watch film. The human eye however, is the best judgement of certain players. If you haven’t seen Skyline’s Jack Ammerman, go watch him play. The talented 6-0 senior guard affects the game in ways that show in the stat sheet and otherwise.
Jack Ammerman brings a lot to the table as a basketball player. First off, he’s an excellent scorer. Ammerman has a fundamentally sound shot and has no limit on his range. He’s a shooter who can take over a game when he heats up. Ammerman is very comfortable in the right corner and he can’t be given any room to shoot in that area. He’s a high IQ player who is very efficient and mentally mistake free. Perhaps Ammerman’s greatest asset is his determination and toughness. He plays with an edge and a confidence that spreads to his teammates. Ammerman both believes and plays like it’s just a matter of time before he gets hot and his team beats you.
Jack Ammerman is currently working to improve his overall defense. He wants to make his on ball defense more of a strength. Ammerman is also improving his help side defense and working to increase his steal and deflection numbers. This spring and summer he played with 1Nation on the UAA circuit. Ammerman also played in his teams high school summer league in addition to countless hours in the gym working out.
Ammerman has goals both on and off the basketball court. For this high school season the goal is to win a state championship. He definitely has college basketball in his future. Ammerman wants to play Division 1 basketball at the next level. He wants to see how far he can take his basketball career and he wants to be successful at whatever he does in life.
Jack Ammerman is searching for, and weighing his options for a home at the next level. He is looking at the possibility of playing at Miami of Ohio. Ammerman will be visiting Ferris State this month and Kalamazoo would like him to visit as well. He offers a lot to any program that brings him in next season. He’s a strong leader who knows the importance of how he treats his opponents and coaches.
Jack Ammerman has used the motivation and guidance of his parents to turn basketball into huge part of his future. Ammerman is a game changer. His stat lines are that of an elite high school basketball player, but that is just scratching the surface of who he is as a player. Ammerman is a hustle player who leads teammates both verbally and by example. While he has options at the next level, I firmly believe that he is a Division 1 college basketball player. Jack Ammerman is a winner and he can carry that trait to Division 1 basketball.
