District Play: Denton Guyer vs Braswell Standout Players

The top two teams in district 5-6A faced off and it was a matchup that featured multiple intriguing players. It was a more defensive minded game with Guyer getting the 55-38 win. Guyer has proven to be one of the top teams in the state as Braswell is another good team looking for a potential deep playoff run.    Lowery is a point guard who doesn't always need to score to positively impact the game. He's patient with setting up the offense and finding the best look for his team. Has the ability to make good and sharp passes to help his teams offense flow. His handle is crafty and shifty which makes it harder for defenders to try and steal the ball from him. He also shows good effort on defense especially with anticipating passes and stealing the ball.     Rodriguez impressed this game with his shooting ability and playmaking ability. He can get hot from the three and convert on pull up threes, spot up threes or deep threes. Knows how to make the right plays as a ball handler in the pick and roll. Keeps his head up when driving the ball and will look to dish the ball to an open man. His hands are active on defense as he has the ability to strip loose balls or deflect passes.     A big man who has a impactful traditional big game, Copes has the size and IQ to help his team. He sets strong screens and pops out or rolls to the basket well. Positions himself in the right spots around the paint to score. Covers a lot of ground on defense and his size makes it hard for opposing players to score at the basket.     White plays with a lot energy and does all the dirty work on the court. He spaces the floor well on offense and has the ability to hit threes. Attacks the basket with good composure and can hit the open man off of drive and kicks. Has a good touch around the basket and cuts well to the basket. He's scrappy on defense often causing turnovers. He also has quick hands and feet when guarding on the perimeter.     Jones is a smart point guard who's active in setting up his teammates in the best positions to score. He has a tight and good handle which allows him to dribble around to find the best shot for himself or his teammates. Has good accuracy with his passes often leading his teammate to score off of his pass. Jones has a quick release and has the ability to hit deep three's, as he showed this by knocking down a volleyball line three during the game. He has good athleticism with grabbing rebounds, contesting shots and jumping over defenders to make passes.     Jordan brings toughness and aggression for his team while also impacting the game offensively. He plays well off the ball getting to his spots with quickness. He's fast with the ball and play smart basketball. Has the ability to hit spot up threes and runs well in transition. His hands are fast on defense and he will strip the ball from players who are dribbling loosely around him. Makes the right rotations on defense and moves his feet well when guarding ball handlers.
