Devontae Cobb | Prep Hoops Scout
A high-level screen-setter who was the glue of Guyer’s efficient offense, creating space for ball handlers and forcing defenders into tough decisions. His screens weren’t just routine, they were set with purpose, physicality, and timing, maximizing his team’s offensive flow. Defensively, Copes displayed versatility, switching onto forwards and centers while also recovering effectively into drop coverage when needed.

was a true utility center, impacting the game in multiple ways beyond just scoring and shot-blocking. His passing out of the post was particularly impressive, as he consistently found open shooters on the perimeter with quick and precise reads. Defensively, he showcased versatility, rebounding, screening, and making hustle plays that don’t always show up in the box score but contributed greatly to his team’s success.

Tyler is a strong, skilled center that puts on a show and makes his teammates better in a multitude of ways. His size and confidence make him a force in the paint and he will dunk on his defender’s head if he senses and sort of doubt or passivity on their part. His footwork is incredibly impressive for a big man and he can run the break like a guard or forward would. He’s an imposing presence when defending his rim and can rack up blocks quickly on his opponents. He’s a smart passer and he combines that with his footwork to work himself into the best scenarios for himself and his teammates to stack buckets. He’s a best on the glass and gets second and third opportunities for his squad regularly. I expect Copes to have a big performance against Crowley this week.

A big man who has a impactful traditional big game, Copes has the size and IQ to help his team. He sets strong screens and pops out or rolls to the basket well. Positions himself in the right spots around the paint to score. Covers a lot of ground on defense and his size makes it hard for opposing players to score at the basket.
