How did the top candidates do at their holiday tournaments? Did anything change? I would say a few things changed!

Favorite: [player_tooltip player_id='1579885' first='Nolan' last='Groves'] of Orono

Nolan had 23 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in a one point win in South Dakota against a Tennessee team, and then had 35 points, six rebounds and five assists in a one point loss to Mitchell, an undefeated team from South Dakota. This Friday Nolan leads his team against Hopkins.

On Nolan's Heels. [player_tooltip player_id='1310206' first='Tommy' last='Ahneman'] of CDH

In a win over St. Thomas, Tommy had 25 points and 11 rebounds shooting 9 of 11 from the field and 7 of 8 from the foul line. He then had 17 points on 8 of 13 shooting with ten boards in a massive blowout over Waconia. CDH has TG on Friday night in a Mr. Basketball top five candidate match-up with [player_tooltip player_id='1574227' first='Chace' last='Watley']

Final Five. [player_tooltip player_id='1572690' first='Chase' last='Thompson'] of Alexandria, [player_tooltip player_id='1572689' first='Jalen' last='Wilson'] of BSM, [player_tooltip player_id='1574227' first='Chace' last='Watley'] of Totino-Grace.

Chase led his team over Maple Grove (no stats available) and then had 30 points and 11 rebounds in a big Class AAA match-up with Mankato East. The Cards lost that game dropping Chase's team to 4-3 on the season.

Wilson and BSM have been off for holiday week break but will be back in action this weekend in a top ten match-up at Byron.

Watley's Eagles won games against good teams from Tennessee and Nevada in South Dakota but no individual results were posted.

Next Up. [player_tooltip player_id='1574223' first='CJ' last='Armstrong'] of Richfield

If there was a player who I would say could take somebody's place if somebody slips, I would say it's [player_tooltip player_id='1574223' first='CJ' last='Armstrong']. CJ got the better of Washington in their head to head St. Cloud match-up with CJ scoring 39! He then scored 36 in a win over Fargo South and went over 2,000 points for his career!

Top Ten. [player_tooltip player_id='1437303' first='Brogan' last='Madson'] of Mankato East, [player_tooltip player_id='1874916' first='Micah' last='Curtis'] of St. Louis Park, [player_tooltip player_id='1288748' first='Tyler' last='Wagner'] of Champlin Park, [player_tooltip player_id='1574216' first='Azayah' last='Washington'] of Apollo, [player_tooltip player_id='1574212' first='Anthony' last='Smith'] of Hopkins

[player_tooltip player_id='1437303' first='Brogan' last='Madson'] of Mankato East. Brogan is moving up our list for sure after beating Park Center convincingly (no stats available), and then leading East over Alexandria with 27 points, seven rebounds and five assists.

The other guy making the push to move up is [player_tooltip player_id='1574212' first='Anthony' last='Smith']. With 15 against Columbia Heights, 28 against Minnehaha Academy and then 30 in the title game at Augsburg against Breck, Smith continues to be that rare Hopkins player averaging big scoring numbers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1288748' first='Tyler' last='Wagner']. Tough weekend in St. Cloud for Tyler and the Rebels. He shot 6 of 19 scoring 19 in the loss to SRR and then scored 19 in the loss to STMA.

[player_tooltip player_id='1574216' first='Azayah' last='Washington'] had a 25 point game against Armstrong as his team lost to Richfield and CJ had the better game. BUT, Washington then exploded for 48 points the next night to get back on the winning track!

[player_tooltip player_id='1874916' first='Micah' last='Curtis'] had 17 in a win over Johnson, and then 22 in a loss to Farmington.
