The opening week of Louisiana Hoops featured intense matchups as teams showcased new rosters and players assumed different roles. One thing is clear: there is a wealth of talent in Louisiana, as these athletes have dedicated time to refine their skills and elevate their teams. With several squads missing key players due to football playoffs, many individuals stepped up to provide much-needed consistency for their programs. Here are some standout performances from players expected to raise their stock as the season unfolds.

Allen Fischer has emerged as a new name to watch. After an impressive 28-point performance against Bastrop, he deserves recognition as one of the top point guards in North Louisiana. Fischer proved to be unstoppable against two of the state's top 2025 players, showcasing his ability to facilitate offense while demonstrating he can score at will. Keep an eye on Fischer—once Neville's football players return, they could become a serious contender in the 5A race for the championship.

[player_tooltip player_id='2132758' first='KeShun' last='Malcolm'], a rising 2027 guard, is quickly making a name for himself in North Louisiana. The Ruston sophomore tallied 23 points, 5 rebounds, and 3 assists against El Dorado High School in Arkansas, consistently filling the stat sheet with impressive numbers. The lefty just has a gift for scoring the ball, but you can see his effort on defense has shown major improvement. As his game continues to assemble, he is going to be dangerous once teams can no longer double and triple team him with the return of the Ruston Football players.

[player_tooltip player_id='1543647' first='Cooper' last='Nelson'] recently secured his second offer from Centenary College and delivered another standout performance with a remarkable 29 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists, and 5 steals in a victory against 5A Haughton. His contributions have led to a strong 4-1 season start, including two big wins against major programs. The nickname "Super Cooper" is gaining traction, and it's well-deserved.

[player_tooltip player_id='1967568' first='Lavell' last='Lane'], a Top 10 prospect from the 2026 class, is off to a strong start this season. He posted 23 points, 12 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 steal in an impressive victory, helping Richwood remain undefeated. Lane is brimming with confidence as he embraces his expanded role, and he will be a key contributor as Richwood looks to make a deep playoff run.

[player_tooltip player_id='1362436' first='Treylan' last='Neal'] from Carroll High School has also received an offer from Centenary College, further solidifying his status as a top player in the state. Neal's impressive stat line of 27 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, 4 steals, and 3 blocks showcases his all-around game. With football players returning, Carroll is poised to rack up wins as they regain their traditional style of play.

[player_tooltip player_id='1347173' first='Jaden' last='Williams'] has transitioned fully into basketball after his football season, highlighted by a stellar 32-point outing against the formidable Ouachita Lions. Beyond his scoring prowess, Williams excels defensively and contributes in all the little ways that help his team succeed.

[player_tooltip player_id='1347183' first='Cannon' last='Robbins'] has established himself as the engine for Cedar Creek, delivering back-to-back performances of 24 and 20 points this week. The 6'2 guard is shooting with incredible accuracy and exuding confidence. Early on, he is making a strong case for District MVP as his team enjoys its best start in five years.

[player_tooltip player_id='1543654' first='Joseph' last='Spann'] has found his rhythm with a standout performance against North Caddo, recording 24 points, 12 rebounds, 3 steals, and 2 assists. As a team captain since his freshman year, Spann has embraced a leadership role at Lincoln Prep and is vying to enhance his stock by contributing in multiple facets of the game. It's safe to predict that Lincoln Prep will be a Top 28 team, with Spann likely in the conversation for All-State honors.

Finally, [player_tooltip player_id='2532089' first='Darren' last='Ford'] is becoming an intriguing prospect in North Louisiana basketball. The freshman has made an immediate impact at Ouachita, leading his team with impressive averages of 21.8 points, 4 rebounds, and 3 assists. His polished game was on full display during a remarkable 22-point second half against defending state champion Wossman, a performance that will be remembered for years to come. Ford has already picked up several offers from Grambling State University and University of New Orleans.

Our next article will cover the The Theodis Lee Shootout at Carroll High School in Monroe, Louisiana, as it promises to be an exciting showcase of talent, featuring many of the state's top players. Among the standout athletes in attendance will be [player_tooltip player_id='2218442' first='Tyshawn' last='Duncan'], a highly regarded four-star prospect from Alexandria Senior High School. His skills are sure to attract considerable attention from scouts and fans alike.

A highly anticipated matchup will see Richwood take on Ouachita, as both teams vie to claim the title of city champions. This clash of talent is sure to highlight the fierce competition and local pride in Monroe.

Jaden Jackson, who holds an offer from Grambling State University, is set to lead West Monroe into battle. With all their football players back and the lineup nearing full strength, West Monroe is poised to make an impact. They will face possibly the biggest team in the state, Franklin Parish, which boasts a formidable roster.

Franklin Parish features premier shooter Drew Cooper, known for his scoring ability, and rising guard [player_tooltip player_id='2631046' first='Zyrell' last='Tillman'], who is gaining attention for his impressive play. This matchup will not only showcase the skill levels of individual players but also the depth and competitiveness of the teams involved.

As the Theodis Lee Shootout approaches, basketball enthusiasts are eager to see these players in action and witness the unfolding rivalries that define Louisiana high school basketball. Don't miss out on this exciting event that promises to deliver thrilling moments and exceptional performances.
