Malcolm may have made the biggest statement in the National event, because he put everyone on notice and the message is that he is a top level competitor. He made shot after shot, and did so with style and flash. In a tough match up Coach Jackson gave the team a message. No more three pointers, get to the rim. Malcolm proceeded to score eight straight points at the rim. He is unstoppable when he is getting down hill, but that is not his only weapon. He is an elite mid-range shooter and three point shooter. On the other side of the ball, he had the biggest play of the tournament with a clutch steal that sealed the Championship victory. Yes, the kid defends as well. He will be “the problem” for teams as they try to solve the Ruston riddle.
Malcolm is really a point guard, but he can play off the ball and excels in both roles. Coach Jackson and his ability to play Malcom in both positions makes the team special and makes Malcolm a high level national prospect. He is a stock riser in the state rankings, but his national profile will certainly gain attention. K5 is a problem and he is only getting started.

Malcolm may be one of the most improved players I’ve seen in recent weeks, largely due to his significant physical growth. Standing over 6’4″, he combines his impressive size with a special handle, making him a clear target for coaches because of his visible skill level. He possesses the IQ and handle of a point guard, yet plays with the scoring mentality of a wing. Malcolm can bring the ball up the court under any pressure, and when off the ball, he can score at will. He’s an elite scorer but is also consistently recognized for his defensive tenacity. Additionally, he is an elite three-level shooter, deadly in both catch-and-shoot and off-the-dribble situations. In conversations with college coaches, he’s already regarded as a D1-level prospect. Malcolm has also added noticeable muscle to his frame and is finishing plays with dunks over defenders. Whether on or off the ball, Malcolm is simply elite.

Malcolm has firmly established himself as one of the top scorers in the state, and slowing him down will be a challenge for any defender. A smart and crafty player, he has a keen understanding of angles and how to get to the rim. Though a left-handed player, Malcolm is equally effective attacking from either side. His length and shot-making ability frustrate defenders, allowing him to finish at the rim with ease and draw fouls in the process. In addition to his inside game, he can knock down three-pointers from deep range, all while playing with a ton of confidence.

Keshun Malcolm was the clear MVP of the day, leading a young Ruston team to impressive wins over Wossman and Airline. His ability to hit clutch shots will undoubtedly earn him a reputation this season. Malcolm faced off against some of the top players in North Louisiana and rose to the challenge by consistently putting points on the board. He is a natural scorer.
Even when his three-point shot wasn’t falling, Keshun excelled with mid-range jumpers and effectively attacked the rim. He’s a crafty offensive player who thrives on splitting defenses and finishing with either hand. As a young player, his game is well beyond his classification, allowing him to score at will—today, he was locked in.
There’s no need to speculate about his upside; his potential is evident. He is a top-level prospect and one of the best scorers in the state. Just give him the ball and watch him go to work.

Keshun Malcolm is a rare talent among this group of guards, as his 6’4″ frame is more typical of a wing player, yet he handles the ball like a seasoned point guard. His size combined with his guard skills makes him a matchup nightmare. Malcolm has outstanding court vision, threading passes like a player far beyond his 2027 class, and his ball-handling is tight and controlled, allowing him to navigate defensive pressure with ease. He uses his size to crash the boards and push the ball up the floor at breakneck speed, all while displaying a high basketball IQ that leaves coaches impressed with his decision-making in transition and half-court sets.
Offensively, he’s a true three-level scorer. He can drain shots from beyond the arc, pull up in the mid-range, and finish strong at the rim with either hand. He has an explosive first step and moves laterally like a much smaller guard making him impossible to contain. His confidence and energy on the floor give him a magnetic personality, making him a player fans love to watch.Malcolm remains calm under pressure, playing with his head up and taking calculated risks with his passing—often resulting in easy buckets for his teammates.
Defensively, Malcolm is a menace. His long arms and high basketball IQ allow him to anticipate passes and jump into passing lanes for steals, constantly disrupting the opposing offense. In this showcase, with physical play allowed, he demonstrated a willingness to mix it up, showing off his toughness and defensive versatility.
Heading into his sophomore season at Ruston High School, expect to see his role expand significantly. Having added three inches and muscle to his frame, this underclassman is clearly on the rise. His unique blend of size, skill, and basketball intelligence will continue to elevate his stock as he emerges as a key player on a talented Ruston squad.
