Recruiting Report: Cade Neubert (2018)
Six-foot-5, 200 pound senior forward Cade Neubert of Sauk Centre is a three sport athlete but the sport he likes the most seems to be basketball.
Neubert put a lot of time improving in the spring and summer months with skill work and different types of competition.
“I spent a lot of time in the gym doing team workouts and individual skill work,” Cade said. “I spent even more in the weight room and I played AAU with the Minnesota Comets and specifically with Comets Little.
“We had a pretty successful season and I grew a lot playing against bigger and more skilled players. I played with my high school team in about 4/5 tournaments over the summer and we did well.
“We went to the Gopher team camp; that was a great experience playing in The Barn and in The PAV. During the fall and the after football season I worked out with a conditioning coach in the morning. My junior season was successful. I learned a lot about my strengths and what I need to work on.”
Cade was a double-double threat last year averaging double figures in points as a but he wants to do more game by game.
“My focus has been to be more consistent in games,” Cade said. “I’ve been working on not settling and getting to the rim. I’ve been working on a pull up jumper and had a lot of success with it towards the end of my junior year and this summer.”
Sauk Centre was 22-7 a year ago but there team will look a lot different than it looks now.
“This year I am the only returning starter, but we have a lot of young talent who work hard,” Cade said. “We already have good chemistry and experience from playing a lot over the summer.
“My goals are to lead the team in rebounding and scoring. Another goal is to be a vocal leader. A team goal is to have a 20 plus win season and get to the section final.”
Cade is coming off an excellent football season and he has options to play in college there. But Cade will also have schools interested in him playing college basketball as well.
“I have been recruited in every sport I play which is football, basketball, and track,” Cade told Prep Hoops. “My goal is to basketball at the next level, but it is nice to have options.
“I have heard from a handful of schools for football Minnesota State-Moorhead being the main one which I have visited. In track I’ve heard from 15 plus schools and have a few scholarship offers the main one being from Cedarville University which is by Dayton, Ohio.
“In basketball I am currently hearing from Gustavus, University of Jamestown, University of Northwestern St. Paul, Cedarville University (OH), and Taylor University (IN).
“I visited Taylor University in the summer and went to a prospect camp. I just visited Cedarville a couple weeks ago and UNW SP also during the fall. I plan on visiting all of them and am hoping to have a decision made by January.”
