Committed to: Connecticut College
I’ve loved Brennan’s game for a while now. He has gotten consistently stronger over the last year-plus and is able to totally dislodge and effortlessly move wing defenders at the NEPSAC level. Sure, the Connecticut College commit will be playing against stronger players next season, but he’ll be able to use his slow steps and skill to outsmart bigger and stronger players. His three point shot will probably also prove to be a lot better than it’s thought to be right now. Brennan’s game should translate wonderfully.

Brennan can play small ball 5 or the wing position because of his size and bulk, but also his skill. The 6-foot-4 wing is patient offensively but is able to bully his way into the paint and uses slow step footwork quite well to finish around both bigger and smaller players. He’s able to make outside shots, too, though elevating his accuracy from there would really unlock his ability to dominate the game on that end of the floor. Brennan can defend forwards because of his strength, so I’m intrigued to see how he’ll fit into the college game at Connecticut College next year. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a big part of their team right away.

Brennan was the best player at Tufts camp and it wasn’t particularly close. People tend to label him as a “small-ball big”, but he actually has a lot more guard skills than you think. Sure, he plays at his own pace and isn’t necessarily the quickest on the court, but he has better athleticism than you think and such fantastic footwork and craft in the paint. His strength and balance is quite impressive, too, and defenders totally bounce off of him on drives to the rim. He can also step outside and shoot the three ball with consistency. Brennan is absolutely a high D3 player despite some people saying that he’s too small to play the big or too slow to play the wing.

Brennan impressed with his ability to stuff the stat sheet with his play. He can make plays for others with his passing. He scored frequently inside of the two point line. He has a nice foundation which allows him to absorb contact and take advantage of smaller opponents. He showed flashes from behind the arc and can make a shot if left open. He found ways to get to the charity stripe. Brennan is a prospect who is a tad of a sleeper and would be a great addition to a college program.

Brennan is super fun to watch on the basketball court. He’s 6-foot-4 but can play the wing or forward position or even the small ball 5 spot at times. He’s so skilled with the ball in his hands; great footwork on drives to the paint (uses the slow step so well), awesome jab step moves on the perimeter, and a really nice-looking three point shot. He’s also a great passer out of the post and plays the game the right way. My guess would be that the junior has a great season at Holderness next year and finds an incredibly high level D3 fit when the time comes. He’s going to make a coach so happy with his shot selection and IQ.

Brennan is coming from Newburyport High School where he was the star of the team and showcased a versatile scoring game. At Holderness, he’ll be able to show off his passing ability and spot-up shooting. The most lethal part of Brennan’s game is when he gets a smaller defender on him and uses slow, patient post moves and footwork around the rim to finish amongst the trees.
