Louisiana has guards galore

The Freshman Showcase was a coming out party of several guards around the state.

[player_tooltip player_id='2194600' first='Christian' last='Clair'] (Archbishop Shaw) was one of the top stars of the camp. He showed the ability to score, dish, and defend throughout the day. His top highlight was the steal and score game winner he had during his final game of the day.

Calvin "Pacman" Dagley (Calvary Baptist) impressed with his ball-handling and finishing ability during 3x3 and full court contests. Dagley also displayed very good passing skills finding cutters repeatedly during game play.

Jay Dantzler (Archbishop Hannan) showed his full bag during play all showcase long. He plays as if the game comes easy to him. Dantzler knows how to attack the rim and defend which is a good combination to have.

Cordarius Woodard (Archbishop Hannan) came on strong during full court play. His ability to stretch the floor and defend made him a player to keep an eye on following the Showcase.

David Thomas (Bossier) may have displayed the best all-around floor game. He can score in various ways while handling the ball without turning it over. Thomas impressed during the Showcase.

Wossman reloads

When it comes to having talent, it appears that no school reloads better than the Wossman Wildcats. The school on Monroe's south side had two players represent well during the Showcase. [player_tooltip player_id='2520997' first='Caleb' last='Sidney'] and Landon Wilson are big portions of the 2028 class for the Wildcats. Wilson showed three level scoring ability and both players showed defensive toughness. That toughness is a staple in the Wildcat culture.

STM, Menard, & BTW Shreveport have BIG futures ahead

There were not a ton of big men at the Freshmen Showcase. However, the three that were there played well. [player_tooltip player_id='2529529' first='Brennon' last='Moreno'] is a piece of the St. Thomas More future. With the number of seniors that graduated, Moreno may see varsity time this season. He is very skilled at 6'5" and seems to be able to handle himself well on the block.

Menard big man Aiden Burch displayed that he is more than a player who plays in the post. Burch displayed the ability to catch and shoot from three and he filled the wing in transition several times. Burch will probably have big responsibilities in the middle for Menard. However, he seems ready to take it on.

[player_tooltip player_id='2435964' first='Devion' last='Stewart'] is part of the Lions revival in Shreveport. He looks like he will be a big piece in the future for Coach Kenny Sykes. Stewart displayed that he could handle the ball along with his rebounding prowess. His outside shot was fluid and his ability score around the basket was good to see. If he can get some varsity time this season, Louisiana might be in trouble next year.

The Freshmen Showcase provided a great look at what the future in Louisiana looks like. If this is a glimpse, basketball in the Boot will be fine with the class of 2028.
