The Ohio Summer Championships were a great way to wrap up my grassroots basketball season with an opportunity to get one last summer scout of some 2026 prospects. In this article I'll break down some 16 U standouts.

One of the more talented 2026 prospects in the Dayton area, Fenton Jr has really developed as a scorer this spring after playing a bench role for the state champion Alter Knights as a Sophomore. I like the size and shooting ability of Fenton Jr from the wing forward position. If Fenton can continue to develop a feel and make quicker decisions with the ball in his hands, he has the frame and scoring talent to be a matchup nightmare.

Bennett shot the ball at an extremely high level off the catch as the lefty made some deep 3-pointers off the catch. Bennett's teammates did a nice job of getting him the ball when he was open and Bennett followed it up with a quick release. In the second half of their quarterfinal battle, Bennett's deep shooting was the difference late as his team pulled away. I also thought Bennett made some solid secondary reads as a passer when he was able to attack a closeout.

Washington was the guy giving [program_tooltip program_id='2289357' first='Team' last='Wildcat HGSL'] the most trouble from Kentucky Ambition in the quarterfinals. Knocking down two early 3-pointers, those shots gave Kentucky Ambition an early lead. Despite his size, Washington had a couple buckets in the paint off drives and his team made some nice extra passes to get open looks. I thought the guards on Kentucky Ambition were productive with a lot of dribble drive action that led to shots at the rim or kickouts.

One of the more improved players from the winter to the summer, Compton is starting to put together his impressive natural ability and turning it into production. A talented scorer who can get to his spots in multiple ways off the dribble, Compton can create shots from isolation or score as a spot-up shooter. His size allows him to shoot over smaller defenders when driving to the paint. As his body continues to develop, Compton should eventually find an easier time getting to the rim and not getting pushed off his spots. I've seen some improvement in his body over the past few months but it is still something to focus on. With his improvements athletically and as a scorer, Compton has developed into a Division I level target who could get his first offer sooner rather than later.

Winning the championship for his team, Foster was playing above the rim all weekend in transition. One of the best athletes in Ohio, Foster is a freakshow when he gets the space to explode vertically. Foster also had a couple huge blocks defensively and was flying around the court. Foster is a huge addition to a Lima Sr squad that should be squarely in the state title picture in the new seven Division format.
