A 6-2 guard who can really shoot it off the catch, Brown actually impressed the most with his ability to put the ball on the floor and attack the rim off the dribble in the Bombers game against Newton. He looked more comfortable handling the ball and was aggressively looking to attack and play downhill whenever he could. He’s strong, with the ability to finish through contact, and the added dimension of being able to create for himself and his teammates off the dribble will be big for himself (when coupled with his shooting), and for Ballard as a whole this coming winter.
SG Andrew Rotzoll Andrew Rotzoll 6'1" | SG Clear Creek Amana | 2025 State IA (Clear Creek Amana)
A sharpshooting off-ball guard, Rotzoll is one of the better shooters in the 2025 class, especially off the catch. He moves well without the ball in his hands, finding open spaces in the defense and shooting with a quick release. He looked more comfortable handling the ball and was more assertiveness as an all-around offensive weapon, looking to attack more off the dribble, creating for himself and his teammates.
PG Nathan Miller (Waverly-Shell Rock)
Miller was one of the most pleasant surprises of the weekend, a senior guard who looked like he’s ready to step into a much larger role for the Go-Hawks this season after seeing very limited action last season. He’s a tough guard who likes to play downhill and put pressure on opposing defenders, using his strength and quickness to get to the rim. He showed some ability to shoot it off the catch, and also showcased quick hands and feet on the defensive end, moving well laterally and making his man work hard to get anything going.
SG Kaleb Wilgenbusch Kaleb Wilgenbusch 6'0" | SG Cedar Rapids Xavier | 2025 State IA (Xavier)
A long, athletic, and active guard who does a little bit of everything for the Saints, Wilgenbusch can defend multiple positions, rebound on both ends of the floor, keep the ball moving on the offensive end, and score when the opportunity presents itself. Nothing that he does is going to blow you away, but he’s the type of player that every winning team needs. He’s a senior leader.
SG Stone Sibenaller (Carroll)
Sibenaller scored 11 points in the Tigers win over Washington, knocking down a trio of 3-pointers, showing a quick release off the catch, which paired with his great off-ball movement, makes him a deadly shooting threat who can help space the floor for Carroll. There is very little wasted motion in his shot.
SF Landon Bozarth (Newton)
A lanky 6-2 wing, Bozarth (pictured) was a revelation throughout the weekend for the Cardinals, emerging as a go-to scoring threat. He had 24 points in their game against Clear Creek Amana, showing the ability to score from all three levels. He’s a confident, versatile scorer who shoots it well off both the catch and the dribble as well as attack the rim and finish through contact.

(Waverly-Shell Rock)
Frazell was the best player in the gym throughout the weekend, but suffered a foot or ankle injury after just a half against Clear Creek Amana, allowing him to only appear in half a game out of the six that the Go-Hawks played. The 6-5/6-6 wing picked up right where he left off in March at the state tournament, scoring 20 points in that one half of basketball, including a trio of 3-pointers, both off the dribble and the catch. He posts up smaller defenders, is comfortable putting the ball on the floor and attacking, and with his size and shooting ability, he’s really, really difficult to slow down. With his talent, and a ton of open shots for WSR, he has a real chance to lead the state in scoring this winter.
PF Hudson Kroymann (Waverly-Shell Rock)
A player who played sparingly for last year’s team, Kroymann will play significant minutes this season for WSR and he played well in Winterset. He’s a scrappy, active forward who can score around the rim, pound the glass, and occasionally step out and help space the floor a bit. Nothing that he does is going to blow you away, but he’ll do a lot of good things for the Go-Hawks.
PF Tyler Gade (Waverly-Shell Rock)
Gade appeared in 20 games for the Go-Hawks last season, but didn’t get a ton of minutes. He’ll be asked to be a bigger contributor this season, and he played well on both ends of the floor. He provides some size and physicality on the defensive end, a big body who can protect the paint, and offensively he showed the ability to both stretch the floor and score around the rim with good footwork.
PF Rocky Bartleman (North Polk)
Bartleman is an active big man on both ends of the floor who does a great job on the glass. He has a knack for tipping the ball around when he isn’t able to corral it himself, generally finding a way to get it into the direction of a teammate to either get a second chance, or end a second chance. He’s a solid finisher around the rim who runs the floor hard and does a good job establishing early position.
PF Ryley Johnston (Winterset)
A 6-4 big man who is going to be a major contributor for the Huskies this season after barely seeing time last season, Johnston played well throughout the weekend. He’s an active forward who rebounds well on both ends of the floor, and his ability to contest shots without fouling in the paint will be big in the middle of their 2-3 zone. He has a bit of a face-up game, showing range to about 15 feet with some confidence in his jumper.
PF Noah Hinners (Carroll)
Hinners is an undersized big man, but he makes up for his lack of traditional size with a non-stop motor, and a lot of toughness. He’s strong, does a good job sealing his man on the block and establishing good early position, and he has soft hands and good touch around the rim.
PF Carter Essick (Carroll)
A 6-0 forward who runs the floor hard and finishes really well around the rim with either hand, Essick played well in the second half against Washington, scoring 12 points and getting to the bucket routinely both in transition and in the halfcourt.
SF Brayden Traetow Brayden Traetow 6'0" | SG Pella | 2025 State IA (Pella)
A versatile scoring threat with good size and a strong frame, Traetow can fill it up from all three levels, shooting it well off the catch and creating plays off the dribble, getting to the rim and finishing through contact. He keeps the ball moving and is an active participant as a rebounder.
