Recruiting Report: Blaise Beauchamp (2020)
Hopkins guard Blaise Beauchamp started several games as a freshman last season and is now an experienced playmaker headed into his sophomore season.
“I’m definitely focusing on become stronger overall and defensively becoming more solid,” Blaise told Prep Hoops today.
Blaise, seniors Anthony Davis and Joseph Hedstrom, and now junior Zeke Nnaji are players that started for the Royals last year and return to the team.
With that level of talent and experience back, plus several others, the Royals have high expectations. They will be a top three team entering the season in Class AAAA and their expectations are high.
“This year I am confident we will make it to the state tourney with the new talent added and with three starters returning from last year,” Beaucahmp explained.
“My goals for this season is to win a state championship and to get ready for AAU season.”
The Grassroots campaign saw Blaise be the major playmaker for the Howard Pulley 16u team all spring and summer.
“My top highlights of my AAU season were definitely going to the EYBL sessions and competing there in front of college coaches,” Beauchamp explained. “I feel like I’ve improved by just gaining my confidence in the game I play and just getting stronger overall.”
As Blaise works every day to become a better player there is one professional (more than others) he watches closely every night.
“The player that has probably influenced me the most is Steph Curry and the way he plays. And he’s probably my favorite player overall and just the way he impacts the game in all of the different ways.”
Putting up double figures as a freshmen for Hopkins in the Lake Conference is a rare thing but Beauchamp did it last year. He also played up for the Howard Pulley Panthers which is another sign that college coaches noticed.
“Schools that have either contacted me or my coaches about me are from Baylor, Marquette, Creighton, Air Force, Wisconsin, Denver, Northern Iowa, Butler, George Washington, and South Dakota State,” Blaise said.
