Prospect Spotlight: Jack Lillquist (2018)
“He loves playing defense” says Sebeka Head Coach Jon Lillquist. The 3 blocks per game last year for 6’6” senior forward/center Jack Lillquist certainly prove that point.
However, there is much more to Lillquist’s game that will catch your eye when watching him play. In Class A basketball, it is common for a player his size to be planted under the basket, that is not the case with Lillquist.
“My strength would be being able to shot block very well, and scoring from anywhere on the court. I have been working on my outside shooting and becoming more consistent” says Lillquist.
His coach’s comments paint the picture of a very balanced basketball player, saying that he is “able to handle the ball, good shooter, great post passer, great shot blocker and defensive player.”
The Sebeka Trojans graduated three players from a team that finished 15-11, with their season ending in a double overtime playoff game. However, returning seniors Lillquist and James Clark will provide great leadership for a team that will be young coming off the bench.
Lillquist looks to improve on the 13 PPG, 9.3 RPG, 2.3 assists/game, and the aforementioned 3 blocks/game he put up last year to help propel his team to the top seed in the section, as well as catch the eye of college coaches.
“Right now, I’m looking for a college that can see my strengths and help me become the best player that I can be” says Lillquist.
His work ethic and determination show when Lillquist states “I would like to earn my spot on the roster and show people that I can play other positions, not just center.”
Look for Jack Lillquist to be a dominant force in the Park Region Conference this season.
