Recruiting Report: Solomon Pierre-Louis (2018)
On Nov. 8 of last year, Solomon Pierre-Louis (2018), a 6’4” guard for The Wellington School, received a scholarship offer from Air Force.
That was the elusive slasher’s first offer, and there hasn’t been another one since. From the sounds of it, that may not be an issue for Pierre-Louis, as Air Force might be the perfect fit.
Here’s what Pierre-Louis told us he’s looking for in a college experience:
“A place where I know I’m going to be pushed to my limit. And really be pushed academically, as well as athletically. I want to know that, while I’m there, I’m going to be pushed every second and that nothing will be given to me … My area of study is aeronautical engineering, with the whole planes area. So if they have that major, then that’s a place I’d consider going.”
Pierre-Louis will go on an official visit to The Air Force Academy on Oct. 19. An announcement on his future college plans could follow shortly.
“I’ve talked to my parents about it and I’m talking to a few other schools. But my thought is, if I go on the visit and if I like it, I’ll probably wait a day or two before committing. Because I’m not sure if I want to commit or not, at least on the visit. But that is an option, and they said it’s OK if I want to,” Pierre-Louis told Prep Hoops.
After Pierre-Louis’ visit next Thursday, it will be interesting to check his Twitter throughout the weekend. It sounds like he’ll commit quickly if it feels right.
The other schools recruiting Pierre-Louis are American, Navy, and Hillsdale. Hillsdale will be in to The Wellington School today to watch him workout.
Pierre-Louis and the Jaguars went 22-8 last season, finishing as the Division IV runner-up in Ohio. Last season’s trip to The Schott has ignited confidence in Pierre-Louis going into 2017-18.
“I feel we’re more confident than ever. And I know we have a lot of seniors, about seven seniors, who have been through it all the last two, three years,” Pierre-Louis said.
This season, divisional realignment pushed The Wellington School into Division III.
“We’re not even fazed by that. Last year, we played Division I teams, Division II teams. The hard teams, we play to get ready for our run.”
“I played at Columbus Academy, so I played at Division III for a while … There’s not much of a difference,” Pierre-Louis said.
Along with team success, Pierre-Louis hopes to become a 1,000-point scorer next season. He currently carries a 3.4 GPA with a score of 23 on the ACT. He took the SAT last weekend, and is awaiting his score.
