The sophomore had a productive regular season averaging 22.5 ppg, 6.2 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. The 2027 combo guard has a versatile overall game but the length and defensive IQ have been noted this off-season. He also has an impressive steal output, averaging nearly 3.0 per game on the defensive end. Newson is a crafty guard who can get by defenders with good ball handles and head fakes where he can finish near the rim or dish it off to open teammates. What separates small guards is the ability to control the rock/offense and provide solid defense.
