The fans, players and coaches have been all over us to talk about this league so that’s just what we will do. In this article we feature a few of the prospects who lit up this emerging independent league.
Hank Williams
Hank Williams
Williams burst onto the PSAA last season as an 8th grader and was able to capture league MVP. He was outstanding this season once again winning several awards including MVP in their chmapionship victory over Stony Brook. The young guard is an elite sniper from downtown, has quick release, he ultimate green light and tons of confidence. His numbers improved in almost every category and he is slowly becoming a serious prospect on Long Island. We can’t believe he is so accomplished already and still is only a rising sophomore.
Sylvanus Tabe
Sylvanus Tabe
We loved Tabe’s game when we first got to see him play at the Long Island Alzheimer’s Classic this offseason. Tabe is an extremly gifted rebounder, he has nice touch around the rim, an excellent motor and loves to score inside. He is a physical forward who sets quality screens, is very active on the offensive glass and has the ability to protect the rim. We believe if he can start to implement a perimteter game the sky is the limit especially with his athleticism and skillset.
Dylan Kopp
Dylan Kopp
The bouncy combo guard was an all league member this past season and was one of the primary scorers in the entire PSAA. He is a terrific three level scorer who upped his three point percentage, grabbed more rebounds and was a fantastic creator for the Bears. His basketball IQ is off the charts, he is serious competitor, can defend multiple positions and plays above the rim. We are hearing rumors he may move back to 2025 but we can’t confirm that. This offseason Kopp will have a lot to consider and in our opinion he would be a great pickup for any program who takes a chance on him.
Pierre made the move from West Islip High School to Knox for his Senior season. He teamed up with a few intriguing prospects on the Island but in our opinion disappointed a little bit especially with how good we thought they could be. While Knox fell short Pierre was great for the Falcons leading them in rebounding and scoring. He is a max effort kid who attacks the rim, has a mid range game, can defend multiple positions and can easily master his role. We are big fans and know several D2 programs who could use his services.
We can not talk about the PSAA league without mentioning the biggest prospect. We mean recruiting wise not physically even though he may have that title as well. Ourigou went to McClancy before ending up at LWA and looks to us like he could be the next high major prospect the Tiger program pumps out. This emerging 4/5 is an elite shot blocker, premier interior defender, throws down every lob and is just getting started in his development.
Anderson has bounced a round a bit during his high school career but finished off his career with the Falcons this past year. He is a strong forward who has inside out game plus a great understand of the game. The Senior was a double double machine who improved his passing numbers, free throw percentage and turnover numbers. We really like his upside at the next level and believe he could help a ton of programs at the D2/D3 level.
