The event featured many players, who’s shots resulted in points on the scoreboard, here’s a look at the top Snipers from the NIAA State Tournament.
Stephens already came into the tournament with the reputation of a shooter. He didn’t dissapoint in the State Tournament. He has a strong upper frame, which allows him to easily shoot it from behind the college three point line. He was knock down in catch and shoot situations, nailing four threes in the semi final game.
Highlights
Williams had so many skills on display, however it was impossible to ignore his shooting. The junior guard has a lot of Dame Lillard to his game, as he was money from logo range, multiple times throughout the week. His ability to drive kept defenders off balance allowing him the space to get his shot off behind the three point line.
I was thoroughly impressed with Macias. He was a cold blooded assasain all week, who loved to put the dagger into opponents. He showed a quick release, and maintained his mechanics against fast closing defenders. He made multiple catch and shoot threes in both the Semis and Championship game.
Highlights
Johnson put on a shooting clinic in the semis for Losee. Despite the loss, the junior PG went down swinging. He made numerous pull up three’s in semi transition action. He gets his feet set, and his shot off quickly, proving to also be accurate in spot up situations.
Love to see freshman shooters perform under pressure. Abittan introduced himself to the state with a terrific shooting performance in the semis. He moved well without the ball, and showed terrific fundamentals getting his shot off screens. He finished with multiple threes in the Eagles semifinal contest.
The incline guard was on fire all week. He burried 4 threes in the semifinals, helping the Highlanders to the win. In a thrilling championship game, he hit numerous run stopping threes. The dagger shooter was a sniper from the wings, proving to be repeatedly accurate in catch and shoot situations.
Williams is one of those players who does so much that you forget about his shooting prowess. You shouldn’t, whether he was launching off the dribble pull up threes, or getting to his mid range and shooting it, the guard showed the ability to knock down shots. In addition to his shooting, he was also one of the best overall players during the tournament.
