Shubert Stuffs Stat Sheet vs Peoria Notre Dame to lead Breese Central to Win

The first game of the day featured the top team in 2A in the state Breese Central against Peoria Notre Dame led by a top 10 senior in Belmont commit [player_tooltip player_id='1373440' first='Eoin' last='Dillon']. Breese Central controlled the game throughout with PND making a run late, but Breese held on to win 47-34.

Senior shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1428864' first='Mason' last='Shubert'] led the way for Breese Central. The 2024 unsigned prospect is a gritty player that does a little bit of everything for his team. Was excellent defensively in this one getting steals, scoring in transition, passing, and hitting the three ball for 11 points. Their versatile forward [player_tooltip player_id='2374508' first='Zane' last='Schrange'] had another solid outing. Sound shooter from three as well hit a pair along with using his toughness around the hoop for 12 points. Colten Arnold was an x-factor in the win draining two more from deep and playing good defense en route to 10 points.

Belmont commit [player_tooltip player_id='1373440' first='Eoin' last='Dillon'] came off the bench as he is coming back from an injury. Hit a couple nice mid-range jumpers creating space on his shot along with a deep three. Had trouble overall scoring in the paint in this one finishing with 10 points. Ted Lahood led them in scoring with 9 points while Ted Dimler chipped in with 6 points on a couple long balls.

Junior Duo of Williams and Randall Too Much in Vashon Victory Over Host

Next up saw Missouri blue blood Vashon against host O'Fallon. Year in and year out Vashon has a ton of depth of prospects and this year is no exception as they made it look pretty easy winning 59-34.

Class of 2025 point guard [player_tooltip player_id='1552480' first='Trey' last='Williams'] was outstanding for Vashon. He shot it very well from the perimeter as usual. Absolutely automatic from the corners as he should never be left alone in that area. Quick and consistent release as he racked up 19 points including five from distance. [player_tooltip player_id='1422770' first='Nicholas' last='Randall'] had a double double as the Vashon big man is one of the more coveted post prospects in the Midwest for the 2025 class. Versatile four man that can stretch with his shooting, high points rebounds, and the athleticism really plays! Finished with 11 points, 10 rebounds, and 2 blocks. The senior that stepped up was [player_tooltip player_id='1262562' first='Nassir' last='Binion']. Athletic slashing wing was aggressive on slick takes scoring at the rim racking up 11 points.

O'Fallon senior [player_tooltip player_id='1373443' first='Rini' last='Harris'] notched his career 1,000 point in this game with a pair of early free throws. The McKendree commit is a strong and athletic scoring wing that loves to play in the open floor and has good defensive instincts. Went for 10 points. [player_tooltip player_id='2318169' first='Will' last='Brown'] is the consistent third option that brings the hard hat mentality every game. He led O'Fallon in scoring in this one with 12 points.

Fishers (IN) Tops Homewood Flossmoor in Border Battle of #1 Teams

This game featured the #1 team currently in Indiana vs the top ranked team in Illinois. Fishers out of Indiana made a major statement with a 78-57 victory over Homewood Flossmoor as they led wire to wire in this one.

[player_tooltip player_id='2079500' first='Keenan' last='Garner'] is a prospect that needs to be getting significant attention at the mid-major level. The strong bodied 6'6” power forward is a beast on the interior. He has a tremendous frame and can score with his back to the basket or facing up. Quick moves off the bounce blowing past the HF interior defense over and over again. Several monster dunks, rebounded well, and hit a pair of threes for 20 points. [player_tooltip player_id='1578471' first='Taden' last='Metzger'] is a shooting specialist in the senior class that can really knock them down with precision draining four of them for 12 points. JonAnthony Hall brings athleticism on the wing as he racked up 12 points. Freshman lead guard [player_tooltip player_id='2140345' first='Cooper' last='Zachary'] showed a lot of creativity with the ball draining threes, racking up steals, and dishing the rock en route to 14 points.

Offense wasn't necessarily the issue for HF on this night. They just couldn't get stops when they needed them. Junior star [player_tooltip player_id='1385293' first='Bryce' last='Heard'] had a solid game on the offensive end. A week ago when we saw him it was all about the three ball. In this game he instead was intent on getting to the rim for and-1s, slashing scores, and getting on the glass. Scored well in transition and hit a couple mid-range shots for 19 points. Columbia commit senior [player_tooltip player_id='1352590' first='Gianni' last='Cobb'] had a stretch where he tried to bring his team back in the game. Such great speed and burst with the ball in his hands taking it coast to coast and winning on straight line takes for 13 points. Senior forward [player_tooltip player_id='1488791' first='Carson' last='Brownfield'] is a tough as nails player that just gets the job done. He brings physicality scoring inside scoring from 15 feet in for 20 points on the night.

Thornton Jumps Out Early and Holds On Late to Defeat Cardinal Ritter

Early on it looked like Thornton was going to run away with this one as they led Cardinal Ritter 16-3 after the first quarter. It was a dominant showing especially by [player_tooltip player_id='1158757' first='Meyoh' last='Swansey']. The defending Missouri state champs kept chipping away at the lead in the second half and had the momentum in the fourth quarter, but quite frankly just ran out of time as Thornton won 53-50.

It was all about [player_tooltip player_id='1158757' first='Meyoh' last='Swansey'] for Thornton in this game. What is great about this squad is that each night a different member of the three headed senior guard trio can step up. This night it was Swansey who had his feathery jumper going for four triples along with several athletic finishes at the cup for 20 points capturing game MVP honors. [player_tooltip player_id='2083269' first='Chase' last='Abraham'] hit three from deep for 9 points and [player_tooltip player_id='1285479' first='Isaiah' last='Green'] chipped in 8 points in the win. Top ranked senior and Illini commit [player_tooltip player_id='1157230' first='Morez' last='Johnson'] didn't have his best game, but still almost managed a double double. He had 9 points, 12 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Fought through foul trouble, had trouble getting the ball in his spots, the defense was collapsing on him every time he did touch it, and couldn't ever quite get in a rhythm. Still pretty good when you can have an “off night” and almost get a double double and defeat a reigning state champion.

Cardinal Ritter was balanced as always. [player_tooltip player_id='1427988' first='Quenton' last='Parker'] is an athletic shooting guard that is coming on strong late in his career making athletic plays in the open floor and connecting from deep for 12 points. [player_tooltip player_id='1914113' first='Derrick' last='Rivers'] notched 14 points while [player_tooltip player_id='1427981' first='Clayton' last='Jackson'] had 10 points in the loss.
