While dreams of undefeated seasons have turned into nightmares. And hopes of a City Title for many teams is now just wishful thinking.
Still, over the holidays a lot of seniors continued to make their presence felt, no matter their team success. We take a look at some of the holiday studs in the class of 2024 everyone should be watching.
Andrew Parrish
Andrew Parrish
Andrew Parrish plays the point guard position like a savvy veteran. When operating the offense for Bergtraum, Parrish never does his own thing. Instead, he initiates plays and gets his guys moving to create the best shot. If he has to take matters into his own hands, Parrish uses his IQ and strength to get to the rim. And since he is also a solid shooter from behind the arc, defenders have to keep a close eye on Parrish even when he doesn’t have the ball.
Ashton Reynolds
Ashton Reynolds
Ashton Reynolds continued his stellar play over the holiday for Transit Tech. Leading a comeback in NYC Prospects Sunday Service, and completely dominating the competition in another local tournament shortly after. When it comes to athleticism, Reynolds is one of the most exciting players to watch. But his improvements as a pull up shooter and ball handler, are only making him more dangerous on the floor.
Taquil Edmonds
Taquil Edmonds
Taquil Edmonds is a crafty guard that plays with swagger, and can put the ball in the hoop. As an off ball guard, Edmonds moves well without the ball and knocks down majority of his catch and shoot opportunities. But with the ball in his hands, Edmonds is equally as dangerous. Breaking down defenders off the dribble with his crafty ball handling. Or using his strength to overpower defenders en route to a bucket.
Mekhi Jackson
Mekhi Jackson
Mekhi Jackson anchors the offense and defense for Wagner. At his size, Jackson is a double-double machine. Defenders have to keep a body on Jackson when the ball is in the air because he is relentless in his pursuit for rebounds. Because of his size and strength, Jackson’s play began to wear down his opponents. By the end of the game, Jackson was getting to the foul line often simply because of his effort.
D’andre Gibbs
D’andre Gibbs
D’andre Gibbs has been on a tear for Eagle Academy Bronx all season. On the floor, Gibbs can do a little bit of everything. With the ball in his hands, he’s capable of breaking down the defense and getting to rim. And he has the ability to pull up from long range, or stop and pop in the midrange. In the open floor, Gibbs is a nightmare to cover, because of his speed and ability to improvise. Plus, the energy Gibbs gives you on offense, will also show on the defensive side of the ball.
