Frye played extremely hard on Thursday against Lexington Christian and affected the game in a multitude of ways even though he didn’t score a field goal. He got multiple 50/50 balls and more importantly gathered 5 offensive rebounds that got Fleming multiple extra possessions. He also did a great job driving to the paint from the wing to find open shooters on the perimeter. He got his teammates a ton of extra shots.
Spillman was relentless on the defensive end for LCA. He picked guys up full court which made it hard for Fleming to get into offense. It seemed like every turnover Fleming had he had a huge part in it whether he got the steal or the deflection. Spillman was the heartbeat for LCA yesterday as they got off to a slow start but he really set the tone from an energy stand point for them.

Armstrong played really hard for Calloway on Thursday as his high motor fed over to everyone of his teammates. He showed he is very versatile playing both on the wing and down low as his shot looked good from 3pt range. Although he is only a Freshman, you never would have known. He made the simple plays, never got sped up and seemed to be at the right place and right time. Going to be a force for Calloway for years to come.

Jervis was the connector for North Laurel. He ran the show at PG and never seemed to get rattled. Although he lacks size, he battled and took on the challenge to be a pest defensively and cause chaos. He was a huge part as to why North Laurel won the game as he was all over the floor and went 11/12 at the free throw line. Loved his ability to break down defenders off the dribble and get teammates easy shots.
Pouncy was one of the best players on the floor in the Cooper game vs Woodford County but the reason I say he was the glue for Cooper was he did everything for them in the paint. He played with an extremely high motor, affected plays defensively, was consistent / poised when he caught the ball down low and ultimately controlled the game around the rim for them. He played extremely hard and will be a huge factor for Cooper as they could make a deep post season run again.

Asher had a ton of big plays at the end of the Woodford County vs Cooper game that didn’t involve scoring. The main one that stuck out to me was his offensive rebound in the final 10 seconds when Woodford was trying to seal the game. His offensive rebound got them an extra possession which led them going to the foul line to drain 2 free throws to extend the lead to 3 with 2 seconds left. Plays like that won them the game. Asher came up big for them.
Kirk is often the overlooked piece for Lyon County but he came up huge against Desales. He defended at a high rate and helped Shoulders on the boards. He also provided some much needed timely baskets that helped push the lead out for Lyon County. This game may have went the other way if it wasn’t for Kirks play.
