The Frontrunners:
Joey Dyck Joey Dyck 6'2" | SF South Gray | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-2 forward, 2024, South Gray:
What a season this guy put together as a junior. When all was said and done, he was arguably the Most Outstanding Player in the class last year, when he nearly averaged 20 points/10 boards and then went off in the state tourney. He’s the clear favorite for that recognition this year.
Ty Romero Ty Romero 6'5" | PG Elyria Christian | 2025 State KS , 6-foot-4 forward, 2025, Elyria Christian:
If you’re looking for the most talented player in this class, you should give close consideration to this player from McPherson. We chose to list him as a forward due to his size, but he’s capable of handling the ball all over the floor and distributing it to teammates. He does it all, and might just blow up this year and get more recognition.
Spencer Coup Spencer Coup 6'1" | SG Solomon | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-1 guard, 2024, Solomon (pictured):
Man was this guy missed last year. He was out for a lot of his junior season due to injury. Watch for this talented guard and veteran leader to have a big senior season. His teammates got a lot of experience last year and might be ready for a special year.
The Contenders:
Trent Long Trent Long 5'10" | CG Clifton-Clyde | 2024 State KS , 5-foot-10 guard, 2024, Clifton-Clyde:
Long had a great junior year and helped lead his team to the tournament. He does it all from the guard spot, particularly create havoc on defense. The Eagles also bring back a nice nucleus, so Long will be leading a really good team.
Owen Reece Owen Reece 6'3" | PF Hodgeman County | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-3 forward, 2024, Hodgeman County:
Arguably the best big man in the class, Reece should rack up huge stats again this year. He’s a physical athlete who can do some of everything on the floor. His team was one of the best in the west last year and will look to advance to the tournament this year.
Jace Smith Jace Smith 6'3" | PG Bishop Seabury | 2025 State KS , 6-foot-3 guard, 2025, Bishop Seabury:
Smith is developing into one of the most dynamic guards in the small school ranks. He’s a big, long ball handler who can attack and create. He’s strong and explosive. Seabury should be a team to watch, and Smith will make a name for himself with a good year.
The Surprise Candidates:
Chase Honarvar Chase Honarvar 6'7" | C Bishop Seabury Academy | 2025 State KS , 6-foot-7 center, 2025, Bishop Seabury:
If Seabury has a big year, it might just be Honarvar who makes the biggest splash. There aren’t that many post players with his type of size and ability to dominate the paint. He’s already a top shot blocker, and he might grow in every other phase of his game this year.
Caden Morgan Caden Morgan 6'2" | SF Lacrosse | 2024 State KS , 6-foot-2 forward, 2024, LaCrosse:
A versatile playmaker, Morgan will be ready to lead a talented group of returners. He stuffs the stat sheet with his ability to dish and defend and who stretches defenses with his perimeter shooting.
