The dynamite guard tandem the Gorillas featured last season was broken up, leaving Coup to lead as the focal point of the team. He’s responded well to the increased responsibility, averaging 21 points and 9 rebounds. He was at his best with 34 points in a tense one-point win over Minneapolis. Coup has always been a dynamite shooter who moved well without the ball. He’s now effectively running point and defending at a high level as well as hitting the glass.

With the recent transfer of his former Gorilla back court mate, a much larger role will be placed on the rising junior. Coup is an efficient catch and shoot shot maker from the corners, plays well off the ball, steady passer and decision maker in the half court, and pesky on defense. Coup will be relied on more on the ball now this season and his improved handle and strength should help him right away.
