The Panthers got big games from their four top perimeter players in the 74-47 victory. In this game report, we will look at each player and what they brought to the table tonight.
Keidric Clark (6’3″ | 2024) – The Doyline senior wing came out a little sluggish but picked it up when the Panthers began to pressure. Clark scored 12 points in the game and was very good at slashing to the rim and scoring on layups. He was also very good on the boards as well as Doyline was good at holding Castor to one shot during periods of the game. Clark was a leader on the floor and will continue to be as the season goes.
Cayden Mingo (5’10” | 2024) – Mingo was a disruptor on defense and a consistent scorer on offense. He was the second leading scorer on the night and scored in various ways. His 17 points came off of steals, mid-range jumpers, and three point shoots. He was also very good at pushing the ball up the floor and showed some real speed in the open floor. Mingo is going to be a true problem for teams because of his speed and shooting.
Damarion McClendon (5’9″ | 2025) – McClendon has taken over the lead guard duties with the graduation of Jamaria Clark. He advanced the ball and got himself into a little trouble at times; however, you can see his ability. McClendon finds people and pushes the pace. His 15 points were a combination of free throws and layups. He is quick to the rim and takes contact well with his small frame. McClendon seems to be ready for point guard duties for the Panthers.
Jay Patterson (6’0″ | 2027) – Freshmen Jay Patterson was the lead scorer on the night with 19 points. His ability to fit in as knockdown shooters was big in game one. He is a very good catch and shoot player from three and displayed that with his barrage of triples in the 4th quarter (making 3). Patterson is an offensive player who will help fill some of the scoring loss. He is definitely a player to watch this season.
Doyline is 1-0 and will host Monterey later on in the week. They began the season in a good way and have four players that can definitely help put the ball in the bucket this season.
