At his best in a unique role that highlights a distinctive combination of efficient off ball perimeter shooting paired with hints of facilitation as a ball handler, Kelly Griffin Jr. Kelly Griffin Jr. 6'2" | PG St. Benedict’s | 2027 NJ will be counted on to fill a significant void in the backcourt for this substantially new look St. Benedict’s program. Griffin Jr. stands out with his confident and efficient perimeter shot making profile— finding success as a spot up shooter stepping into in rhythm looks, balanced footwork converting on movement opportunities, and even using his quickness off the bounce to create space. His ability to generate and convert on quality attempts without forcing the issue translates to efficient shooting percentages, a component that should be pivotal to this St. Benedict’s group of guards’ success throughout the season. All while still providing plenty of impact as an instinctive and willing distributor and keen offensive initiator, keeping the ball moving and finding his teammates open and getting his teammates organized in offensive sets.

Griffin is the biggest name so far to be on the move as he announced a few days ago he will be headed to St. Benedicts in New Jersey for his final high school season. He leaves Molloy as one of the top scorers in the CHSAA and will look to instantly make an impact with the Graybees. His role should take off once he feels comfortable and he should get plenty of shots as well as minutes. Expect a big year.

Griffin has had a really strong career with Molloy as their top scoring option for the past two seasons. His team looks to him to handle a ton of the offense, he can work through double teams, moves well off the ball and isn’t afraid to challenge defenders at the basket. When given space Griffin is a serious shooter who can really heat up quickly. He will need to take another big step to get Molloy back on track but we wouldn’t bet against the Senior sniper. 

Kelly was so impressive at this event. He is an extremely talented player. Lightning quick with the ball. Very smooth and confident player. He gets off his own shot. Explosive and athletic playmaker. Has the mindset to understand now his ability to take over games. (Pictured)

Kelly was a 13th team all state selection. I will make an early prediction that he will find himself on a single digit all state team next year. He averaged 15.6 ppg this past season. He possesses a high basketball skill set. Explosive athletic player with a good basketball body from the wing position. A really good facilitator of the ball. He has a real nice handle which gets him into his spots. Hard worker with great work ethic. Scores multiple ways and impacts the game many different ways.

Kelly possesses a high skill set. Night in and night out defenses geared to stop him and he was able to weave his way to scoring and facilitating plays. He uses his explosiveness and athleticism to score. Great work ethic. To me a no brainer to find his name on a all state team.

Griffin is one of the best up and coming prospects in the 2027 class. The point guard showed his ability to play without the ball his outside shot and even surprised some scouts and coaches in the gym with his defensive instincts. It also looks like Griffin has shown that he has grown a bit since the season has ended. Griffin is one of many big guards that is hard for defenders to stay in front of. 

With confidence and efficiency being intricate parts of his game, Kelly Griffin Jr impressed the most over the course of this weekend’s action as a confident perimeter shot maker who primarily excelled as a spot up shooter as well as a movement shooter with smooth and repeatable shooting mechanics, particularly with his balanced footwork, hunting his shot to seek out open opportunities, and efficiency in his percentages. This 17U Wiz Kids group was able to very often speed up opposing ball handlers and force turnovers and Griffin Jr capitalized off a lot of those situations, getting ahead of the defense and finishing in transition and secondary break opportunities.

Kelly averaged 16 ppg for the Stanners this past season. A explosive athletic player. He posseses a great work ethic. Excellent basketball skill set. Really good with the ball in his hands . A facilitator. Can score multiple ways.

At this point in the season he is leading this extremely talented league with many D1 potential players in scoring over 23 a game. Tremendous skill set. Outstanding work ethic. Explosive and athletic but also understands getting teammates involved. A facilitated and playmaker.
