Recruiting Report: Wilkenson Isnord (2018)

Wilkenson Isnord came over to the United States from the Bahamas this past season. He started playing basketball just two years ago and currently has offers from FGCU and Appalachian State. Also, interest from USF, UMass, Louisiana Tech and Navy. The 6'7", 210-pound power forward spent his junior year at Taravella. Isnord will play his final high school season at Blanche Ely. Raised in Nassau, Bahamas, he called his first season the transition very interesting. "The Bahamas is filled with many young and talented athletes like me but what prevents most of our young athletes from progressing forward in life with their athletic abilities is the lack of exposure", Isnord said. His goals for this season at Blanche Ely are this. "I plan to be a monster on both defense and offense next year by crashing the boards and doing damage in the paint and around the arc," he said. "I want to make my presence known on the court at all times and help lead our team to a state championship and nationals." Isnord moved to America to get the best training possible and showcase his skills at a higher level. He spent this summer on the circuit with the Florida Vipers. "The Florida Vipers have been nothing but the best basketball program I've ever been with. Being surrounded by people who want to be successful was enough motivation to help me train to be the best athlete that I could be. They've taught me that nothing in life comes easy and that you have to work hard for what you want. Every workout session was hard." Many times I felt like giving up but they didn't let me and pushed me to the max. I've gotten stronger, faster, more athletic and disciplined this summer and feel very confident in my game now. "There isn't a bigger stage than playing with the Florida Vipers right now today" is one of our favorite quotes from Coach Brandon and that is nothing but the truth." Isnord called his biggest strengths, rebounding, scoring in the paint, defending inside and making his presence known on the court at all times. He's aiming to improve his handles, mid-range jumper, outside shot and his basketball IQ. It's hard to miss Isnord on the court. He's bouncy and finds his way into tough spots inside on both offense and defense. The upside is tremendous with this kid. Right now he's a low Divison I prospect but that should change as the season gets going. He has a chance to be a really good interior player at the next level.
