Gibbs Summer League: Frontcourt Standouts

While guard play often grabs the headlines, several frontcourt players left a lasting impression throughout the Gibbs Summer League. Whether it was protecting the rim, controlling the glass, finishing through contact, or bringing nonstop energy, these five prospects consistently made their presence felt in the paint.    McClung was a bright spot for St. Pete Catholic throughout the summer league. He anchored the defense, played with nonstop energy, and consistently finished around the basket. His confidence and intensity often helped swing momentum in his team's favor. What stood out most was his versatility. McClung showed flashes of ball-handling ability and perimeter skill that add another dimension to his game. As he continues to get more comfortable creating with the ball, he'll become an even tougher matchup.     Jones is the type of player every team needs. He plays winning basketball on both ends of the floor and impacts the game in ways that don't always show up in the box score. Jones battles for every loose ball and rebound, using his strong frame to hold his own against bigger players while still having the agility to switch onto guards. Around the basket, his footwork allows him to maneuver through traffic and finish effectively. His effort and versatility were on full display throughout the summer league.     Robinson brought energy every time he stepped on the court. The vocal big man anchored the paint defensively, protecting the rim and making opponents think twice about challenging him inside. He plays with force and intensity, setting the tone for his team. Offensively, Robinson keeps things simple and effective. Get him the ball around the basket, and he'll find a way to score. His motor and toughness made him one of the most impactful bigs in attendance.     Wright is a prospect whose potential immediately jumps off the page. Standing at 6'10 as an incoming freshman, he already possesses a skill set that is uncommon for a player his size. Wright can handle the ball, operate in the post, and step out to knock down shots with soft touch. Defensively, he altered countless shots and consistently protected the rim. With his combination of size, skill, and upside, Wright looks like one of the top prospects in Florida's 2030 class.     Roth looked noticeably stronger throughout the summer league and played with a more aggressive mindset. He attacked the basket with confidence, finished through contact, and imposed his will in the paint. Roth was also a reliable presence on the glass, using his physicality to secure rebounds and create extra possessions. His interior play should be a major asset for Osceola moving forward, and his development was one of the more encouraging takeaways from the summer.
