Recruiting Report: Jarvis Thomas (2018)
Six-foot-7 power forward Jarvis Thomas of Orono averaged a double-double as a junior and his impressive spring has led to high major offers.
“I am more than pleased (with how things have gone with Howard Pulley),” Jarvis said to the Gopher Hole. “I kind of can’t really believe where we are at right now, but everything seems to be rolling pretty well for us.
“I am actually very pleased with how well I have been playing. You can always play better, but so far, I am pleased.”
Thomas can be seen everywhere on the internet dunking from all angles with the Howard Pulley Panthers. The Panthers have the top record in the EYBL and a 28-3 record overall. Thomas credits Tre Jones for a lot of the success the team has had.
“Tre is great guard. He has been helping me out,” Thomas said. “He is probably some of the reasons that I have gotten the looks that I do. Definitely, he helps a lot.”
Thomas has picked up offers from Pitt, Marquette, Oregon State, Iowa State, Arizona State, Cal, Texas A&M, and Wake Forest thus far.
“Me and my mom have talked about going to about visiting Pitt and Texas A&M, I am pretty sure and possibly Butler in June or early September,” Jarvis said. “I will also see Minnesota next week.”
Thomas has played with D1 Minnesota and Howard Pulley in the past AAU seasons but he started playing with Minnesota Lockdown (now Powerhouse MN) who was coached by former Gopher and St. Cloud Apollo big Jon Williams still helps Thomas today.
“He means a lot,” Jarvis said. “Coach John has helped throughout this whole thing with recruiting, my skills, my social life. Even stuff between me and my mom. Like everything. Dude means the world to me.”
