Big Shots : Hidden Gems
Prep Hoops is emptying out the notebook from this past weekend at Big Shots – Team Felton event in Greensboro, NC. Here is a a few players that you might not know much about in this article.
Semaj McCowan (2017) – Franklinton HS (Franklinton) – Franklin County Bulls 17U
McCowan is a unsigned senior still looking for a college this coming fall. McCowan a left-handed slashing guard got to the rim very easily today. McCowan averaged 11.2 ppg and 5.1 rebounds this season and also grabbed 27 receptions – 444 yards on the football field.
Jerrail Brodie (2017) – Franklinton HS (Franklinton) – Franklin County Bulls 17U
Brodie 6’2 is a left-handed guard who really looks to excel in the open court. Brodie told Prep Hoops he would like to major in engineering in college somewhere. Brodie averaged 7.5 ppg this season. Franklinton HS finished the season at 20-7.
Jake Brownlee (2018) – West Columbus HS (Cerro Gordo) – Big Shots South Carolina
Brownlee 6’5 bounces back and forth between Big Shots South Carolina and Flight 22. Brownlee a post player uses his body well in the paint to draw contact. Brownlee has a soft touch from 10-12 feet on the floor. Brownlee averaged 14.3 ppg and 8.9 rebounds this season at West Columbus HS.
Nishan Rombley (2019) – Mount Zion Christian Academy (Durham) – Team Premier
Rombley 6’8 is a raw talent on the floor. Rombley has slow reactions right now but does have great length. Rombley is a better defender and a mover-screener right now than a offensive threat. Rombley grabbed 11 rebounds today in a game. Rombley keeps the ball up high every time he touches it.
Steven Randle (2019) – Forest Trail Academy (Kernersville) – Big Shots North Carolina 2019
Randle started his high school career at North Forsyth HS in Winston-Salem. Randle spent like 3 weeks at Charlotte Basketball Academy before arriving at Forest Trail Academy in mid February 2017. Randle 6’7 power forward seems to be a consistent double-double guy. Randle rebounds on both ends of the floor very well. Randle uses a nice jump-hook to score around the cup. Randle has the ability to knockdown the low post jump shot.
