As we have crossed the halfway point of the season, I suspect we will see more activity from the player who was beleaguered by an illness most of the first half of the season. Still, he is putting up a solid 11.6 ppg on his junior campaign. I see a recruitable player who I thought was just a 3-point specialist, but today tallied an unofficial 19 points, mostly on short jumpers and put backs. Moving forward he'll have to increase his assist per game production and gain some muscle strength to maximize his recruiting profile. I would also like to see the next level of tenacity on defense but I believe the talent is there waiting to come out. He utilized his size and superior strength to grab a board and score with a put back. This was the key to his team jumping on the opponent and assuring the victory over Menomonee Falls. I found him a tough competitor, who was very active today. Guyton was all over the place and score mostly going to the hoop, but added some charity stripe points along the way. After that strong first half he ended with a stylish 28. He just appeared quicker than the guards assigned to guard him and with that also handled a press with ease. He averages an impressive 21.3 point per game on the year and did nothing but improve on those marks. A guard like this should do very well once the high school playoffs start. Geske, who at one point many considered an unknown quantity, because of his unsung playing style, is quickly becoming someone we all should know his name. In the second half, after he hit a couple shots in a row, I realized this prospect had 20. I am impressed with the way he just works and when his team needed a bucket he was in the right spot at the right time. Averaging 14.6ppg on the year, the 22 he dropped today will of course help that. Come playoff time the Lancer's will be a tough beat if his performances like this continues. Mostly behind Meyers' leadership and scoring, which saw him post 24 points. I found it unique that Papermakers kept looking for Meyers throughout the game, and with that said, he controlled the pace mostly. In the game he hit a total of five 3-pointers. Three of those coming just as the game was getting tighter in the second frame. He was just as cool as they come to nail those three in a row to basically secure the game. Loved how, at the end of the game you could tell that he had given it his all, tired and drench in sweat. He is averaging 10.2 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 3.4 apg and surpassed all of those marks today. The state's consummate point guard plays at a different level than most and he went about his business against a tough Homestead club.  John put up 16 first half points, but it's truly more than that. He always seems to be in the correct spot defensively, makes a timely steal, grabs that important rebound, or makes that crucial shootable pass to a teammate. First, he looks the part, long and lean. Second, every time I see him, he has improved a skill or a movement/positioning on the court. Finally, what he impressed me with today, was his aggressiveness with the ball in his hands early. Top 5/6 player in his class and might move up. Over the last 2 years he would be on a Most Improve List if there was such a thing.
