Unfortunately, this contest was over in a hurry. Radnor’s jumped out 10-0. Their suffocating defense held Upper Darby to only 5 points in the first quarter (18-5). Radnor cruised from there, winning 61-33.
Below is a look at a few of the college prospects who took the court on for last night’s Upper Darby at Radnor game.
Upper Darby
Niymire Brown – 6’4″/ Senior / One Opportunity / Small Forward: From a scoring standpoint it was a frustrating night for Brown (2 pts.). Still, there is no doubt this physical and athletic small forward can play. His ability to start at the high post, put the ball on the floor and get to the rim is solid. Additionally, Brown looked good in UD’s pick-n-roll game.
Yassir Joyner – 6’3” / Senior / Team Final Black / Combo Guard: Joyner is a late transfer to UD who has established himself as a legit scoring threat. He is a quick and athletic guard who has size as well as a physical edge to his game. He is at his best when there is space for him to get into his dribble drive bag. Once he is past his defender, Joyner can score at the cup through contact. He also owns a decent jumper. Joyner scored 12 in this game.
Nadir Myers Nadir Myers 6'2" | PG Upper Darby | 2023 State PA – 6’2” / Senior / Philly Pride Select / Point Guard: This wiry lefty with speed can get to rim and shoot the three. Last night he executed several impressive Euro-step moves. Once he is in the paint, Myers understands how to draw fouls. Plus, Myers (13 points) knocked down two logo distance threes. He also did a respectable job as UD’s primary ball handler.
Khysir Slaughter – 6’1” / Senior / Philly Pride Delco / Wing: Slaughter (2 points) impressed us last night with his rebounding, on-ball pressure, and composure in the face of Radnor’s menacing defense. He is a glue guy for his team, but we have seen him score the ball in bunches on the grassroots scene. So, his offensive skills should not be doubted.
Radnor
Jackson Gaffney – 6’7″ / Senior / Team Final Black / Wing: This athletic prospect glides up and down the court in Radnor’s transition game. He can create off the dribble for himself and teammates. As a nice bonus, he is an automatic three-point shooter. His wingspan and ability elevate quickly enable him to compete on the glass at both ends as well as provide rim protection. He recorded 10 points and grabbed 7 rebounds against UD.
Jackson Hicke Jackson Hicke 6'5" | SF Radnor | 2023 State PA – 6’5” / Senior / Prim3 Tim3 / Shooting Guard: There is not much left to write about Hicke (Princeton commit), who has been featured on this site numerous times. The two areas Hicke has improved his skill set the most — mid-range scoring and offensive rebounding — were on full display last night. Obviously his lethal 3-point shooting is still a weapon too. Hicke posted 21 points to go along with 10 boards and 7 dimes.
Cooper Mueller Cooper Mueller 6'3" | SG Radnor | 2023 State PA – 6’2” / Senior / Shooting Guard: The athletic and quick Mueller (4 points) is committed to Princeton for lacrosse as a defensive midfielder. That helps explain why he is one of the area’s top defenders on the hoops court. Thursday night, Muller locked down UD’s top scorer and had 5 steals. On the offensive end, Mueller can get out in transition, score off the dribble and will sprinkle in the occasional 3-ball. His crafty off-ball movement is impressive.
Danny Rosenblum Danny Rosenblum 6'0" | PG Radnor | 2023 State PA – 6’5” / Senior / Prim3 Tim3 / Shooting Guard: Rosenblum’s composure and tight handles against UD’s fierce on-ball pressure was remarkable last night. When the opportunity presented itself, he scored at the cup. When the defense collapsed in the paint or attempted to double him, Rosenblum (4 points) calmly distributed to the open teammate. Rosenblum is committed to Rochester (currently ranked #7 in country for D3).
Charlie Thornton Charlie Thornton 6'4" | SF Radnor | 2023 State PA – 6’4″ / Senior / Prim3 Tim3 / Wing: We continue to be captivated with the growth in Thornton’s skill set. As a sophomore, he was an athletic, slasher style wing. Since then, Thornton (6 points) has developed his dribble drive skills and three-point shooting so that he is now a legitimate 3-level scoring threat. On defense his anticipation skills and endless motor enable him to block shots and rebound.
