Prospect Spotlight: Landon Ingle (2018)
The Roosevelt Roughriders have a lot to be excited about this coming fall, and 6-foot-5 small forward Landon Ingle is a big reason why.
With great size and a versatile skill-set, Ingle is as imposing of a wing as there might be in the CIML next season. But it’s his willingness to do the little things which may go unnoticed, that makes him a cut above the rest.
“On the offensive end of the ball I’m an all-around guy; I like to slash to the basket and I shoot it pretty well,” said Ingle. “And I’m pretty long on defense, so I’m always deflecting passes or getting steals and things like that.”
Ingle averaged 5.2 points per game this past season as a junior on an 11-11 Roosevelt team, and says next season could be special for the ‘Riders.
“The season didn’t go how we wanted it to, and I think it was because we never really had our full team,” he said. “Next year will be a really fun season, it’s the last go-round for a lot of us, and we’ll all realize it’s our last season and we’ll have fun with it.”
In the meantime, Ingle is playing with Kingdom Hoops Elite’s second squad, and says though there’s been some bumps early, the team should start clicking soon.
“We’re all pretty experienced, and it’s been a pretty rough start because we’re all trying to get acclimated to each other,” he said. “Hopefully, going into the live period we have it figured out, and I can get some looks and interest from college coaches.”
As of right now, he has very little interest coming in. Which for a versatile 6’5 wing makes him an under the radar prospect.
“I feel like I’m kind of under the radar, not a lot of schools know about me and I feel like I can be a great player in the state of Iowa. It’ll be fun to see how I perform this summer, and just see if I can get on people’s radars,” said Ingle.
“My main goal is to get some college interest and go into school ball with that, and then have a good school ball season and just take it from there.”
