1.) 2023 [player_tooltip player_id='956879' first='Tate' last='Petersen'] (Monticello) - 7.6 assists per game

A four-year starter for a Monticello team that has been among the best in the state during those four years, Petersen has steadily evolved his game and become one of the best all-around players in the state. A sharpshooting off-ball guard as a freshman, he's now one of the best playmakers and three-level scorers in the state, putting up 20.9 points with his 7.6 assists.

2.) 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1171681' first='Jonovan' last='Wilkinson'] (Roland-Story) - 6.8

One of the best stat-sheet stuffers in the state, Wilkinson is averaging 15.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists a game while also playing some of the best, and most versatile, defense of any player in the class. A 6-2 wing who can dominate games even when he isn't scoring with his playmaking and defense, Wilkinson is a huge piece for a Norsemen team that is currently our #1 team in the state.

3.) 2023 [player_tooltip player_id='1240099' first='Ben' last='Egan'] (Mediapolis) - 5.9

A 5-11 lead guard who loves to put pressure on opposing defenses with his handle and quickness, Egan has done a great job protecting the ball this season for the Bulldogs, posting a better than 4-1 assist-to-turnover ratio.

4.) 2024 Tommy Miller (Forest City) - 5.8

Miller has stepped into a starting role this year for the Indians and been a solid contributor as the lead guard, accounting for nearly 40% of the team's assists as a junior.

5.) 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='1171662' first='Holden' last='Arnaman'] (West Branch) - 5.8

Arnaman has established himself as one of the best guards in 2A basketball through his first 2+ years, and he's off to an excellent start to his junior year with the Bears, averaging a team-high 19.1 points on 48-39-66 shooting to go with his playmaking.

6.) 2023 Aden Vondrak (East Sac County) - 5.6

Vondrak is a true pass-first point guard who is averaging more assists than points (5.4) this season. The Raiders got off to a slow 0-3 start but entered the break on a two-game winning streak, and Vondrak was excellent in those two wins, posting 16 assists against just 2 turnovers.

7.) 2023 [player_tooltip player_id='1240102' first='Carter' last='Boettcher'] (Sioux Central) - 5.2

A high IQ guard who can break down the defense and get into the teeth of it, Boettcher sees the floor exceptionally well and is a willing passer who allows his teammates to get into the flow of the game with his passing before he takes over as a scorer, which he can certainly do (21.2 points per game).

8.) 2023 [player_tooltip player_id='1469829' first='Denton' last='Kingland'] (Lake Mills) - 5.2

Kingland was a quality role player for the Bulldogs last year, primarily playing without the ball in his hands and providing value as a sharpshooting wing. He has moved into a primary ball-handling role this year and thrived, leading the 'Dogs in assists and scoring (18.3) with impressive 48-40-64 shooting splits. He's a long, lanky 6-4 guard who has impressed us with his new playmaking skill set.

9.) 2024 [player_tooltip player_id='2325381' first='Lyle' last='Olsen'] (Hudson) - 5.1

A 5-11 lead guard who paces a dynamic Pirates offensive attack, Olsen has stuffed the stat sheet for Hudson as a junior, averaging 10 points, 5 rebounds, and 5.1 assists a night. Hudson is a sleeper team come 2A postseason play, and Olsen's steadying presence in the backcourt is a major reason why.

10.) 2023 [player_tooltip player_id='1367448' first='Jacob' last='Van Donge'] (Unity Christian) - 5.0

The senior guard has only appeared in two of the Knights' five games so far this season, but he's a true pass-first guard who has dished out 10 assists in those games, compared to just 12 field goal attempts.
