Wild West Shootout Recap: 2nd Day Standouts

<!-- wp:paragraph --> <p>The wild west shootout is Northern Nevada's premier basketball tournament that serves as a fundraiser for the Sierra kids foundation. The Sierra kids foundation provides educational scholarships to children and youth with developmental disabilities in Northern Nevada, specifically kids with autism spectrum disorder. The Sierra kids foundation helps families who are under insured, low-income, unemployed, or of low socioeconomic status pay for ABA therapy for their child who may not be able to afford a treatment program otherwise.  This year's event featured a Reno vs Northern California format, pitting schools from each area against each other. He only scored 8 points in limited minutes however he was extremely efficient, knocking down both of his 3's and making sharp passes, and finding teammates for easy baskets. Anderson played hard despite his team falling to Jesuit. He's a combinations of face-up four with a power back to the basket game. I really liked the patience he played with as he used jab steps and ball fakes effectively. He made them in catch and shoot situations as well as coming off screens. Hamill was one of the better players moving without the ball that I saw at the event. Struggling to make shots in the first half did not deter Garcia from being aggressive, and his aggression paid off in the second half as he scored 19 of his 26 points during the second stanza. He was able to score when attacking the basket as well as getting out and finishing in transition. The faceup four man is a player that is receiving little interest from schools, but will be a nice sleeper product for someone. The PG carried his team, scoring or assisting on 23 of his teams 27 points in the first half. He reminds me of former Bengals QB Ken Anderson, in the fact that he's not the fastest or most athletic guy, but defenders can never really get a bead on him. The lefty is a player and that's all that really matters. He was effective playing downhill to his strong hand, and finishing at the rim. He also showed some good vision and playmaking skills, hitting open teammates once defenders collapsed on his drive.
