Prospect Spotlight: Noah Hart (2019)
A stock-riser in 2019, Waukee’s 6-foot-3 point guard Noah Hart is in line to blow up over the next 12 months.
To insiders, he’s already a well-established dynamic point guard; one of Iowa’s best young talents.
He played off the bench for a deep and talented Waukee squad this past winter, and averaged 3.5 points per game. Next season his role will be much more prominent as a main scorer, distributor and defensive-stopper.
“I’ve been improving on my pull-up jumper. I’ve been told by lots of different coaches that if you want to make it to the next level you really need to have a different arsenal than just layups and 3s,” said Hart.
“I’m not a one-dimensional player. I take a lot of pride in my defense. I think defense is really what gets me going on the offensive end. So I think defense is just as big as offense.”
Hart feels like he played too timid at times as a sophomore, and has been working on his aggressiveness this spring with the Iowa Barnstormers.
“I think I could have played a lot better (as a sophomore); I played a little timid as a lot of people would say. Coming off the bench either as the sixth or seventh guy was definitely different for me, but it was a fun experience playing with the varsity,” said Hart.
“Now that this season is over, I’m really just looking forward to next year and what a great group we have coming back.”
With great size and still room to grow, Hart is certainly one of the more intriguing prospects in Iowa’s 2019 class.
“As of right now I haven’t gotten any recruitment, and I’m really excited for this summer, and hopefully the recruitment will take-off,” he said.
“But I’m just going to worry about myself and getting better, and everything will take care of itself.”
After a very successful Future Stars Camp showing last Saturday in Dubuque, Hart took home Camp MVP honors. He’ll carry that momentum into this weekend’s’ adidas Gauntlet in Dallas, TX.
Hart mentioned what his role will be this spring and summer with that ‘Stormers 16U squad.
“They like to have me out on the court to rebound, and to be a point guard and a defender. (In Madison at the ROCK Spring Classic) when we played D1 Minnesota I was put on their best player to just to get up in his face because that’s what I like doing,” said Hart.
“We’re really, really talented, and I think we can make a lot of noise in the (adidas) Gauntlet, and I definitely think we can win it.”
