Lucas Williamson to Loyola
Whitney Young 2017 shooting guard Lucas Williamson is one of the most versatile prospects in the senior class. He has shown this throughout his career both on the grassroots circuit and for his high school team. Williamson was one of the top remaining uncommitted prospects in the state coming into the high school season and he even elevated that more with his play during his senior season leading Whitney Young to a state title. After a monster year Williamson has decided to play his college basketball at Loyola.
“It was just the best fit for me. I feel like Loyola is on the verge of doing something great and I want to be a part of that. I believe and trust in the staff and love the school. I’m ready to get to work!”
He talked with us about joining a class that already includes the #1 power forward Christian Negron (Larkin) and #2 center Cameron Krutwig.
“I believe we can do something special at Loyola. The coaches are already talking about how we should strive to become the winningest class in Loyola history.”
Williamson really helped his stock with a productive circuit for Meanstreets in the Nike EYBL last spring/summer. During the high school season he showed he had more scoring ability and that he could be a featured player when needed. The thing you have to like about Williamson is he is a team first player that is versatile and does everything well. He isn’t flashy with his play, but stuffs the stat sheet. Solid shooter that can hit pull up jumpers and an open three. Good handles, quality passer, and defends on the perimeter. Williamson is a great glue guy that will help a team in a multitude of areas.
He is the #16 overall prospect in the final class of 2017 rankings and #5 shooting guard in Illinois. Williamson joins a pair of top 10 2017 in state commits Cameron Krutwig and Christian Negron for an unreal in-state class. They are still in the mix for the #2 power forward Taylor Bruninga as well.
