Brendan Ahlers | forward | Osbourn ’24
Ahlers looks much improved heading into his junior season. At 6-foot-7 he is a threat from three but also a confident finisher around the basket with either hand. Another thing Ahlers is good at is making outlet passes to spring the break.
Teyvien Barbour Teyvien Barbour 6'5" | SG Patriot (VA) | 2024 State #298 Nation VA | guard | Osbourn ’24
Barbour led his team to a hard-fought win over West Potomac by doing a bit of everything well. Aside from his relentless scoring and savvy playmaking, he consistently made winning plays that won’t show on the stat sheet.
Kaden Bates | wing | Patriot ’23
Bates is a rangy 6-foot-3 wing who can play multiple positions. He is an impact player on both ends who finds many ways to make a difference in games. Bates looks like he could become a key player for the Pioneers if they hope to reach their full potential.
Dom Cianciolo | guard | West Potomac ’23
Cianciolo is a scrappy left-handed guard who can score, but also competes defensively. He took multiple charges, one on the ball and a couple off the ball. Cianciolo shot it confidently from behind the arc and shrewdly used pump fakes to keep the defense guessing.
Nasir Coleman | guard | Patriot ’23
Coleman showcased an array of crafty finishes around the basket which were impressive. He looks to be in good physical condition this preseason. Coleman not only scored, but communicated, defended well, and regularly got his teammates open shots.
Samuel Dailey | guard | Annandale ’23
Dailey lifted the Atoms over Langley with the eventual game-winning shot. He was assertive throughout the contest. Dailey got to his spots where he scored the ball with confidence.
Sean Donovan Sean Donovan 6'7" | C W.T. Woodson | 2024 State VA | forward | WT Woodson ’24
Every time we see Donovan, he makes shots. On Saturday, he went 4 of 4 from behind the arc. Donovan also continues to mix it up off the bounce. He is heading into his junior campaign with a lot of positive momentum.
Tavyahn Faison | guard | Osbourn ’24
Faison is a dynamic addition to the Eagles’ backcourt. The Osbourn Park transfer is a two-way player who can handle the ball and score but also reads the game well enough to facilitate efficiently.
Dezmond Hopkins Dezmond Hopkins 6'0" | CG Patriot | 2024 State VA | guard | Patriot ’24
Hopkins is a pure bucket-getter who is going to keep coming at you. Whether pulling up for three or attacking the basket, he has a knack for putting the ball in the hole. Despite being a lefty, he is not afraid to use his off-hand, which you don’t often see from southpaws at this level.
Owen Lathrop Owen Lathrop 6'2" | SF W.T. Woodson | 2023 State VA | wing | WT Woodson ’23
Lathrop used his broad shoulders to carve out room for him to get downhill and attack the basket off the dribble. He showed nice touch on his runner and shot the ball with conviction from three as well.
Mike Meares | forward | West Potomac ’23
Meares is a talented offensive player who can create mismatches with his outside shooting ability. He also showed that he can catch and finish around the basket. Another thing Meares does well is pass. He can execute the high-low action from either spot.
Marang Sargeant | guard | Langley ’24
Sargeant was impossible to keep out of the paint on Saturday. He is a shifty guard with a quick first step who keeps the ball on a string. When Sargeant gets in the paint, he will either finish, draw contact, or find the open man.
