Ryans and his Northview team picked up 1 of the biggest wins of the season, not just for them, but for any team in the state. They came out on top, 63-46, against an East Lansing team that hadn’t lost in a very long time. Ryans was nothing short of electric in the win dropping an eye-popping 41 points in the game.

It was easy to see the superstar in Cam Ryans’ game. He showed that he was a threat to score in so many ways. Ryans hit mid range jumpers and used a side step to avoid a defender and then a straight line take to the rim. He added a flip in put back and showed his ability to shoot from beyond the arc off the catch.

A throwback style wing, Ryans was going right at the host Lima Senior in what was the most competitive ‘game’ of the day. Each team won one quarter and Ryans played a major role in his teams quarter win with strong finishes in the paint and playing through contact. Patient with the ball in his hands, Ryans hits defenders first and bounces off of them to create space to score. Old school basketball fans will love the way Ryans plays and he should fit in well with an improving Western Michigan program.

Ryans is without a doubt simply one of the best players in the state. I love the way he’s developed his game over the last 4 years. He’s a super steady off the ball guard and wing. Ryans plays smart basketball and has a strong frame.

No big surprise here. He just looked stronger and more athletic. Ryan’s scored in the open floor and through contact. What might have stood out the most was his jumper. It looked balanced and fast. Ryan’s really made it look like a professional shot.

Adding Cam Ryans to an already stacked Grand Rapids Storm squad is a very scary thought. Well, opponents are going to have to deal with that reality. He will be with the Storm starting with the UAA Session 1. The smooth guard/wing adds yet another shooter. Even better than that, Ryans brings another high IQ player that plays the right way.

Northview has had a nice run of incredibly talented players. But there’s another part of that trend. They’ve all been awesome young men. That doesn’t happen by accident.

fits that trend with perfection. He quietly developed his game throughout his high school career and has become a premier prospect in this state. Ryans is a versatile and unselfish athlete that just wants to be his best and be a winner. I’d call it a success at both so far.

The jump for Ryans wasn’t huge is terms of numbers, but whenever you take over the number 1 spot, that’s a leap. That really though signifies the growth and maturation we’ve seen in his game. He has a significant increase in ease of movement and athleticism, making him look like a dangerous scoring guard.

When he first came to high school, my only concern was what his positional profile would be. Well through hard work and training, he’s more than scratched that from any list. Ryans is an athletic player that has a great between the ears game.
