Ryan Morgan | Prep Hoops Scout
Dykstra has come a long way from his freshman year, and it’s clear he has put in a ton of work on his body in order to put himself in position to be a closer for his Lyncs. He’s a sneaky explosive guard who can finish with strength at the rim, and succeeds at creating space on the perimeter, getting on balance for shots, and taking advantage of openings with some quick lift and shot-making. Look out for Dykstra and the Lyncs as they navigate district playoffs starting tonight against Mount Baker.

Gannon could be a candidate for NWC MVP at the rate he is playing and producing. He gets to his mid-range spots with such ease and can knock down tough shots with hands in his face, being able to rise above defenders to get his shot off. He turns defense into offense, which is key for the way the Lyncs like to play on the court. Will he be able to lead the Lyncs deep into the state tournament? I sure think so.

Dykstra has really matured this season, not only physically, but also with his confidence and presence on the floor. It is clear he has put in the work and trusts his ability out there, and it’s led to an uptick in scoring, efficiency, and playmaking this winter. He’s a kid who can get to his spots, shoots well from each level, and has shown some improved burst and athleticism in his senior year. He has Lynden Christian humming early on and is one of the top players in the 1A this year.

Gannon’s game has really taken another step this season. His offensive game is much more well rounded as he is hitting tough shots coming off screens, off the dribble, off the catch, anything. You name it and Gannon can hit the shot, even when heavily guarded. His defense has taken another step too, due to his strength and athleticism both improving more and more. He could end up with the MVP in the Northwest Conference.

to start the season but D2 commit Dykstra has been dominating early in the season, every game. He has an elite mid-range jumper and does a fantastic job at absorbing contact in the paint. Against Bellingham, Gannon had 30 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists while hitting 5 threes during the game.

Gannon is a special athlete who really knows how to put the ball in the bucket. He has the chance to win the conference MVP, with the rate he is playing at. He does it all for the Lyncs, scoring the ball at a high rate and facilitating the offense by being the main ball handler. Against 4A Lake Stevens, Gannon dropped 24 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists, almost getting a triple double.

Gannon is ready for a big time season for the Lyncs, stepping in as the main scorer this season as Jeremiah Wright graduated last season. Dykstra’s mid-range game is lights out and has only been getting better. He keeps the ball close to him with his tight handles and his athleticism helps him get his shot off above defenders.

Gannon has really evolved his game since the beginning of his junior year. Last year he was more consistent on the court when getting to the bucket and hitting his deep shots. His mid-range has always been lights out but when I watched him hoop over the summer, it seemed even more deadly. Dykstra knows how to get to his spots and run the offense smoothly.
