Etienne Strothers Etienne Strothers 6'1" | PG Menchville | 2023 State VA | 6’2” PG | Menchville 2023
Strothers, who recently committed to Appalachian State, is part of one of the most athletic backcourts in the state and he just keeps getting more and more bouncy every time we see him. While he’s explosive and can play above the rim when he gets downhill he also has great hang time and body control to be able to change his body and finish in traffic, he can rise up and shoot over defenders and he can bring the house down in transition.
AJ Clark AJ Clark 6'2" | SG Menchville | 2023 State VA | 6’3” WG | Menchville 2023
Clark is the other part of that high flying backcourt and when it comes to just raw power and explosion as a leaper you won’t find many guards in the state that can match Clark in that realm. He’s an explosive leaper off of both one or two feet and uses that to get up and throw down lobs and dunks both in transition and in the halfcourt, he’s an excellent shot blocker for his position with his athleticism and the fact that he plays with a great motor only makes it better.
Christian Greenlaw Christian Greenlaw 6'6" | PF Woodside | 2023 State VA | 6’6” PF | Woodside 2023
Greenlaw may be a little undersized for his position but with his power and explosion he’s able to outplay guys much bigger than him in the paint. He is able to use his strength to clear out space in the paint and rebounds well where he can explode and finish above the rim and through contact, he can run the floor and play above the rim in transition and he’s relentless in the paint and tries to dunk everything.
Zekhi Darden Zekhi Darden 6'5" | SF King's Fork | 2024 State VA | 6’5” F | King’s Fork 2024
Darden is set to step into the role left by now Norfolk State freshman George Beal and the 6’5” forward is set to have a breakout season for the Bulldogs. At his size he has the quickness to play on the perimeter and the strength and athleticism to play above the rim, he can get downhill in straight lines and run the floor in transition to finish above the rim and he crashes the glass hard to fly in for put-backs too.
Isaiah Fuhrmann Isaiah Fuhrmann 6'5" | SF Nansemond-Suffolk | 2024 VA | 6’5” F | Nansemond-Suffolk 2024
Fuhrmann is a two sport athlete who also shines on the football field, so the fact that he’s a big time athlete who can play above the rim is no surprise to anyone. At 6’5” he has good size and is a natural athlete who can run the floor, in transition he’s explosive off of one foot and will challenge anyone who tries to get in his way at the rim and he could still be growing as well which will make him even more scary at the rim.
Kareem Stagg Kareem Stagg 6'8" | PF IMG | 2025 State #399 Nation FL | 6’7” PF | Oscar Smith 2025
Stagg is one of the most impressive rising sophomores in the state, and the 6’7” power forward has tons of tools that are very impressive including his athleticism on both ends of the floor. He’s an elite level shot blocker with his length and timing, he’s explosive and a quick leaper who can get off his feet multiple times very quickly and he can crash the glass for put backs and finish above the rim on duck ins and in transition.
Kosi Mgbejifor | 6’10” C | Catholic 2026
Mgbejifor is about as impressive as you will find when it comes to physical and athletic tools for a young big man, as he already is standing around 6’10” and moves and jumps in ways that most big men flat out can’t. He is a fluid athlete who moves well and runs the floor, he gets up with the best of them to block shots and finish in the paint and he’s one of those players that just simply tries to dunk everything and succeeds more often than he doesn’t.
