Prep Hoops Atlanta Live and the Under Armour Association (UAA) Session III saw preps from all over the country participating. Of course, Louisiana had a large contingency of players playing in both live events as hosts of college coaches made their way to Atlanta. There were some players who made the most of their opportunity in front of college and recruiters last week while others are hoping the second live period is better for them. Instead, of listing who did what during which event, we will name an all-Louisiana team encompassing both events. These players were the best of the best during the week in Atlanta.

*All teams will be listed in alphabetical order

First Team

[player_tooltip player_id="1475974" first="Dorian" last="Booker"] (LA Elite 17U)

[player_tooltip player_id="970111" first="Jamaria" last="Clark"] (OWE-RW3 ’23)

[player_tooltip player_id="1218216" first="Jayce" last="Depron"] (LA Elite 16U)

[player_tooltip player_id="1159181" first="Trey’Dez" last="Green"] (LA Broncos ’24)

[player_tooltip player_id="1127251" first="Decedric" last="Webb"] (LA Elite 17U)

These five players were some of the most talked about players during the live period. Green has performed on a high level in every tournament on the Prep Hoops circuit and he continued his fine work in Atlanta. He was practically a double-double each game. Booker was equally as hard to keep off the offensive glass. He might not have elite athleticism but he knows how to carve out space for rebounds and put the ball in the basket.

[player_tooltip player_id="1127251" first="Decedric" last="Webb"] may have been the most spoken about player from Louisiana. His athleticism along with his ability to play and defend multiple positions created a buzz all week. Depron created the same type of buzz on the 16U UAA. He showed that he can score at all levels. Along with that, he was one of the best perimeter defenders for LA Elite. [player_tooltip player_id="970111" first="Jamaria" last="Clark"] averaged over 20 points on the weekend during the Prep Hoops event. His offensive skills showed that he was a genuine threat from all three levels with range well beyond the three point arc.

Second Team

[player_tooltip player_id="970139" first="Chris" last="Carpenter"] (OWE-RW3 ’23)

Christopher Cenac (LA Elite 16U)

[player_tooltip player_id="970126" first="Omarion" last="Layssard"] (Cenla Dynasty)

[player_tooltip player_id="1213753" first="Shad" last="Levy"] (Showtime Elite ’23)

[player_tooltip player_id="970119" first="De’kaveon" last="Taylor"] (OWE-RW3 ’23)

No one played more basketball than Layssard as he saw action in both events. He had trouble adjusting early on to the length on the UAA circuit, once he did, he found his scoring niche on both. The way he attacks the basket is hard to stop. Levy is similar to Layssard in the way he attacks the rim with a more refined perimeter game. While he can be streaky, he takes his lumps and creates scoring opportunities each in the paint or at the charity stripe. Taylor was the best perimeter defender on the weekend as he took on all challenges from the top scorers from each opposing team. He even played some point guard to improve his skills at that position.

[player_tooltip player_id="970139" first="Chris" last="Carpenter"] is one of the best point guards in the Boot and he let the opposition know it. His dribble moves to create separation are poetry in motion and his three point jumper was falling all weekend. Chris Cenac may have more upside than anyone on this list outside of Trey Green. His ability to shoot the mid-range shot was excellent for a rising sophomore. Cenac can defend the rim and score in the paint as well.

Third Team

[player_tooltip player_id="1213567" first="Terrance" last="James"] (OWE-RW3 ’23)

[player_tooltip player_id="1285330"
[player_tooltip player_id="1145438" first="Kohen" last="Rowbatham"] (FIFA Elite ’23)

[player_tooltip player_id="1105551" first="Jyrin" last="Sowell"] (OWE-RW3 ’24)

[player_tooltip player_id="1330583" first="Zion" last="Weeks"] (C&S Hoopstars)

Newton was literally the most talked about guard from Louisiana on day one of the UAA session. The way he played the point and his game winning layup made coaches highly aware of his talent before a back tweak sidelined him. James was the most versatile of the OWE forwards. He played multiple positions and played them well showing he is as versatile as they come. Weeks was a walking triple double on the Prep Hoops 15U circuit. His team went 3-1 largely due to his performances.

[player_tooltip player_id="1145438" first="Kohen" last="Rowbatham"] had a rough go of it due to team record. Individually, he showed why he is a top ten talent in his class. He might have been frustrated, but he was not stopped all weekend. [player_tooltip player_id="1285330" first="Antron" last="Mason II"] came off the bench but was on the floor at closing time for AAO Flight. His shooting and passing abilities helped his team find success on the UAA Rise circuit. Sowell played out of position all weekend and performed at a high level on offense and defense. His future is bright as well.

Honorable mention

[player_tooltip player_id="1213564"
