College coaches prefer seeing prospects in a high school setting as opposed to AAU were there is decidedly less structure. With 134 teams, over 30% of all IHSAA schools, divided between Carmel and Westfield over the weekend it was a perfect opportunity for programs at all levels to evaluate many of the top prospects the state has to offer. There already have been multiple scholarship offers handed out since the event came to a close on Sunday afternoon. Now, let’s take a look at five new names to know in the Class of 2025.
Alex Couto Alex Couto 6'0" | PG Carmel | 2025 State IN (Carmel H.S. 2025): This sharp-shooter flew under-the-radar a bit last season while playing Junior Varsity as a freshman at Carmel. However, it is time to learn his name now. Couto broke out at the Charlie Hughes Showcase knocking in a bunch of perimeter shots and even earned an early offer from Huntington. Expect to see him back a major contribution in the Greyhounds backcourt this winter.
Jonanthony Hall (Fishers H.S. 2025): Hall isn’t necessarily a new name to those of us who have followed spring and summer basketball in the state. The ultra-athletic guard has been excellent for Indiana Elite 2025 on the 3SSB Circuit and has taken over a starting role in the Fishers backcourt. Hall is one of the best on-ball defenders in the state and is explosive getting to the basket off of the dribble. One of the best guard prospects in the class.
Brady Koehler (Cathedral H.S. 2025): At 6’6″ with a sweet left-handed shooting stroke, Koehler certainly commanded a lot of attention over the weekend at the Charlie Hughes Showcase. You can expect to see him playing a role as an off-the-bench shooting threat for the Fighting Irish as a sophomore. Koehler has very high upside and will be one of the top prospects in the 2025 class in our next rankings update at Prep Hoops Indiana.
Maguire Mitchell (Zionsville H.S. 2025): Mitchell is a long, thin wing that really stepped into a larger role at the Charlie Hughes Showcase as Zionsville was playing without Penn State commit Logan Imes Logan Imes 6'4" | PG Zionsville | 2023 State #202 Nation IN . His offensive versatility was on display while shooting the ball very well from the perimeter all weekend long. The 6’4″ wing scored a team-leading 18 points against Anderson.
Papi Rivera Papi Rivera 6'1" | PG North Central | 2025 State IN (North Central H.S. 2025): “Papi” Rivera showed that he is ready to take on a major scoring and playmaking role in North Central’s backcourt this season. He is already pretty well known in Indianapolis basketball circles and is in our Prep Hoops Indiana rankings, but will garner more statewide attention now. Scored the ball very well throughout the weekend.
