No Jersey numbers for Lincoln park made it difficult to note out players. A Lincoln Park player opened things up with a posterizing slam in the early minutes. But it was mostly all Evanston after that. Hunter Duncan Hunter Duncan 6'0" | PG Evanston | 2023 State IL made some terrific plays early. He’s truly shown that he can be pure floor general with blazing speed and superb ball-handling abilities. He also let it fly with an early three. Another Evanston guard, sophomore Yaris Irby Yaris Irby 5'10" | PG Niles North | 2025 State IL , is another player who caught my attention early with a fake pass in transition for an easy layup. He found several more baskets down low filling open holes and using his own burst of speed to get to the basket.
Later on, forward 2023 F Joshua Thomas Joshua Thomas 6'5" | PF Evanston | 2023 State IL came alive with a breakaway slam, and several second-chance buckets. I saw the same from fellow 2023 F Prince Adams Prince Adams 6'7" | C Evanston | 2023 State IL . Both displayed lots of physical tools and overall athleticism by snagging tough boards and finishing athletically near the rim. Evanston would win 54-42
Rubin Twins Lead Simeon to Two Victories
The Wolverines picked up two wins against some solid competition this afternoon. It was the Rubin Twins who took control in these games. Miles Rubin Miles Rubin 6'7" | PF Homewood Flossmoor | 2023 State #243 Nation IL got going with some stellar defense and a few inside buckets to open the say. Wesley Rubin Wesley Rubin 6'7" | PF Homewood Flossmoor | 2023 State IL got in his groove with several defensive rejections by the end of the opening half. He truly showed us why he’s one of the best interior defenders in the state. Wes’s offense came around later on with m a 2nd chance bucket and a dunk. On defense, he swatted away a layup into the stands. He also found another basket with a midrange jump-shot near the free throw line. Wes Rubin finished home an alley-oop to end the first game. Wes and Miles continued a strong showing with several athletic plays in their second game against Champaign Central. But it was a full team effort.
Marian Catholic Beats Kenwood:
2025 Guard Bryce Heard Bryce Heard 6'6" | SG Homewood Flossmoor | 2025 State #86 Nation IL hit a 3 and scored on a nice reverse layup in transition early. For Marian Catholic, 2023 F Quentin Jones Quentin Jones 6'4" | SG Marian Catholic | 2023 State IL displayed lots of confidence attacking the basket. He scored on a fast break dunk drew multiple fouls. He also played excellent defense. It was only 19-18 Marian Catholic at half Bryce Heard Bryce Heard 6'6" | SG Homewood Flossmoor | 2025 State #86 Nation IL opened the second half with a tough and-one over two defenders. He was the most productive offensive player for Kenwood as they regained a quick lead. Quentin Jones Quentin Jones 6'4" | SG Marian Catholic | 2023 State IL responded with a pull-up midrange jumper. He found a couple more baskets from midrange, and Marian Catholic stormed ahead for a comfortable lead and held on for the win.
Brother Rice Picks up Two Nice Wins
The Crusaders started the afternoon off with a solid win over Kenwood. Ahmad Henderson Ahmad Henderson 5'10" | PG Brother Rice | 2023 State #291 Nation IL , Khalil Ross Khalil Ross 6'6" | SF Brother Rice | 2023 State IL , and Cale Cosme Cale Cosme 5'7" | PG Brother Rice | 2024 State IL all made impressive plays to give them the upper hand. Thair game against Marian Catholic was one I watched more. Khalil Ross Khalil Ross 6'6" | SF Brother Rice | 2023 State IL making plays at the rim and almost had an impressive jam driving down the lane. Cale Cosme Cale Cosme 5'7" | PG Brother Rice | 2024 State IL had some big offensive plays for Brother Rice too. He opened the 2nd half with a three and made a terrific pass for an assist down low. For Marian, Quentin Jones Quentin Jones 6'4" | SG Marian Catholic | 2023 State IL had another outstanding showing. He found buckets from all three levels and played with a whole ton of confidence on both ends. His long arms allows give him an advantage. But Brother Rice was too strong.Ross slammed one home off an alley-oop pass to break a tie late. Cosme extended the lead off a steal and fast-break layup. Rice would win 54-46.
DePaul Prep has an Exciting Point Guard Duo
DePaul Prep has produced an exciting amount of point guards over the past few years. From the Anthony Brothers, to TY Johnson, to Trevon Thomas and Alex Gutierrez, point guard play has excelled for the Rams. Now, its time for 2023 Maurice Thomas Maurice Thomas 6'1" | PG Depaul Prep | 2023 State IL and 2025 Makai Kvamme to lead this group. Thomas showed range early with a step back jumper and a three from the top of the key. He hit another 3 to begin the second half and forces a turnover. Meanwhile, Kvamme is an excellent shot creater who also loves to push the ball up the floor and get his teammates involved. He found an open Jaylan McElroy Jaylan McElroy 6'7" | PF DePaul Prep | 2024 State #262 Nation IL down low for several nice baskets throughout their game against Normal West. The most important one probslby came in the final minute when Kvamme found McElroy open in transition for a slam to secure the win.
